Wild Bill Report post Posted June 11 Although I have used natural ground blinds for deer hunting, I need protection from unpredictable late season mountainous weather during elk season. Does anyone use ground blinds for public land elk rifle elk hunts? What ground blind do you suggest?
PRDATR Report post Posted June 11 How far do you need to pack it in? AN Ameristep weighs in at 23 pounds.
Wild Bill Report post Posted June 11 I normally need to pack in approximately 1-2 miles, just beyond the outer edge of the main hunting pressure.
07Guardian Report post Posted June 13 My wife and kids have killed a bunch of cow elk from pop up blinds. Mostly in thicker areas where shots would be pretty close. Allows them to move around under the window level out of site. Can also run a buddy heater in cold weather. We just used whatever we could buy cheap! All shots are super steady sitting in a chair with rifle resting on bipod or tripod.

Crazymonkey Report post Posted June 14 We use pop-ups for elk - deer they usually don't require brushing in . We setup a day or two before the start and are good to go . Primos made a smaller single person hub style blind that's fairly light . My wife bought one for me for archery but it's to small for me to draw . I use it as a pack in blind.
