baloo27 Report post Posted May 3 What’s everyone using to sharpen your Hunting/EDC knives? I love a razor sharp knife (not a replaceable blade knife). I had a guy in the Valley I’d pay to sharpen my knives after every hunting season but he’s moved on and lost contact with him. Curious to what other people are using and doing. Any suggestions would be great!

az41mag Report post Posted May 3 I sharpen my own. A worksharp is good and works very fast, I like it for kitchen and steak knifes. For my hunting knives I use a Blademaster honing kit. It uses a clamping system with a guide rod on the stone handle that helps you maintain a more consistent angle on your knife edge. It is a slow process and takes some getting used to, but I feel like you can get very precise edge on your blade with that system.
Hoss50 Report post Posted May 3 I use the Worksharp for my kitchen knives, pocket knives, and cheaper hunting knives. I use a Smith hand sharpener for my better knives. I have 2 benchmades and an MKC. When I want those crazy sharp, I send them in for free blade sharpening with the manufacturer. Speaking of, I probably need to send them in to get them super sharp for season.

10Turkeys Report post Posted May 3 Sometimes a stone, sometimes a steel, and sometimes a leather strop. A lot of it depends on your blade steel. Some knives get razor sharp and by the time you clean your finger nails, they are not that sharp. Everyone has their own preference and I like S30V steel.
