kphunter Report post Posted January 29, 2009 Anyone own or previously own these binocs? They appear to be wonderful glass, just below the Swarovski's but a bit on the heavy side. Shouldn't be much of an issue, as I'd be using them exclusively on a tripod. Let me know your opinions. Thx, KP
Red Rabbit Report post Posted January 29, 2009 I had a pair for a few years. Thought the optics were the next-best sharpest to the Swaro and Leica 15s. Two negatives were that 1) the eyecups had a squarish, not rounded, edge that disliked my brow, and 2) the diopter adjustment was right next to the focus wheel and would get moved as the diopter did not lock. I did notice some curvature of field near the edges when the binos were panned.
DesertDweller Report post Posted January 31, 2009 The last version of the 15x58 had the diopter adjustment under the right eye cup as most bionculars do. This was a great improvement. Red Rabbit was exactly right, on the old version, when you used the focus wheel, it was super easy to move the diopter adjustment. With the ED glass this was a great binocular for the $$$. MHO. To bad Minox discontinued it. I've cut back on my kids lunch money and I'm saving it for a Leica Geovid 15x56. DesertDweller
