Strip tags will come after they get rid of auction tags.  These will replace the auction tags at the expense of more animals killed, but a remote chance for everyone that buys them vs a single high dollar buyer.

A person can only put one entry in for each hunt so if you’re saying a rich guy will buy 1000 tickets that’s not possible on this draw

I wasn’t saying that.  Just saying they’ll add a hunt in the strip as soon as the auction guys get done with their tags.  They will need to do a bunch of these to replace the lost revenue.

They don’t need to replace revenue in the normal sense.  Auction tag money only went to projects on the ground, not salaries.  So there will just be less projects on the ground.

Seems like that’s the best place for the projects to be 🤷🏻‍♂️

Two Auction tags just raised over $1mil.

They will need to sell 100,000 x$10ea to replace revenue.

Who has to sell 100,000 of what at $10, to replace revenue?

They have gotten rid of auction tags but raffle tags aren't the only option.  Last year they did a competition and used one of the deer tags. Between the deer tag and an elk hunt in NM they raised over 900,000.

We are talking about two different revenue streams with two different uses.

Proceeds from auction tags are designated for the HPC fund that pays for grants to do projects. They can only be used for this purpose and cannot be used for AZGFD operational costs.

The limited entry permits generate additional operating revenue for the department and it would be unlikely for it to fund a project in a significant way.

Although the decision to stop auctioning commissioner tags and the issuance of these particular limited entry tags are timed closely, they are not related. Limited entry tags will continue to be issued periodically as approved by the commission a few years ago. Commissioner tags will continue to fund projects through the HPC.
