stanley Report post Posted February 8, 2005 I spent the weekend down south with my 10 year old son on his first big game hunt! We didn't get a pig, but we had a GREAT weekend. Awesome weather, great glassing, and lots of animals to be seen. He learned a lot over the weekend (I learned some as well.... ). We ended-up getting within range of some on the last day, but couldn't get one to hold still long enough for a shot. He was a little bummed at not killing one, but as he learned in Hunters Education last week; a successful hunt does NOT necessarily mean killing an animal. I was proud of him for taking this lesson seriously, and not letting it ruin his otherwise perfect weekend! No sense worrying about it anyway.... we have turkey season to plan for! S. PS: I hope lots of folks can make the trash clean-up day down there next month! Plan on bringing your kids, as the ADA has a special surprise planned for the little ones. Stay tuned.... Couesnut Report post Posted February 9, 2005 My son was successful on Sat. morn. in 36a. One shot, 129yrds. It's his second pig, as he took one in 02" in the same place. It was ABSOLUTELY the best hunt we were on all year. We both needed it. Even though it was just a pig, I love it when a plan comes together. We had the whole place to ourselfs. NO Quads, or IAs, not a sole. Some real quality time. Those JR. hunts are great. Reminds me of the days when no one lived in this State. ConnXion Report post Posted February 9, 2005 My son and I also spent the weekend down south on the Jr hunt. We were not successful in taking one but we had a great time. We saw three on Sat nite the bad rain storm and just never got a clean shot. Stanley sorry we never ran into you but I think we were just a little further south. Couesnut tell your son congrats.
