ctafoya Report post Posted March 24, 2024 Thanks. I haven't tried different mags yet. I'm using Magpuls currently. I'm going to run this suppressed so I should have spent some money on the gas system to begin with. Hopefully the new parts help with the issue.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted March 24, 2024 May I suggest that you might be over thinking this? I love Magpuls, but I've had them fail me before.
ctafoya Report post Posted March 24, 2024 Yeah, the simplest fix is usually the case.
ctafoya Report post Posted April 24, 2024 All the parts showed up a few weeks ago, hoping to try again soon. If it cycles properly I'd like to pin the gas block. Any gunsmiths out there willing to tackle that? If so, I have a total of 3 barrels I'd like to get done. I'm just not a fan of the set screws.

A pinning jig and bench drill press and you are all done. Just as fun as building them.
MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted April 26, 2024 not sure what you want in (pinning)? A small spot where the set screw goes is all you need. It wont move. Depending on makers some barrels have them stock and some dont. And some are misplaced depending on gas block maker. Pain in the butt. Let me know if you need it done but im far west of you. Drake2033 Report post Posted February 26 Well, you've already checked most of the common issues. Consider your gas system—if it's under-gassed, that could explain the cycling problems. You might want to try an adjustable gas block to fine-tune the pressure. Also, make sure your buffer and spring combo match your setup. If you need replacement parts, https://ar15parts.com/ has a good selection of gas blocks, buffers, and other AR-10 components.
cactusjack Report post Posted March 14 From my experience AR10s can be nightmares. Especially when people are putting them together themselves. There really isn't a "Standard", like there is in AR15s. I've had the best luck when I stick with one manufacturer on a specific project, or bought a factory gun. Biggest problems I have seen are 1. People bought discount parts online or using old inherited parts 2. Mixing "style"- Armalite, DPMS, ect and variations of each 3. Gas blocks- moving or over or under gassed Hope you got your's figured out.
