Remington 341P SportMaster Bolt Action Repeater .22 LR, SOLD

Recommended Posts

Remington .22 built in 1937 (I believe) S/N 105927. The bluing on this gun is original and it looks darn near new, easily 95%. The rifling is pristine and appears to have been shot very little. The rifle has Peep sights, hence the "P" in the model number. Both the small and larger apertures are included. The only sign of ageing is the bolt handle (not the bolt itself) is a bit tarnished for whatever (unknown) reason.

I always wanted to refinish a rifle stock and as the pictures show this was a good specimen. I refinished the stock for my daughter as her first .22 but in the end she felt it was to barrel heavy with the tubular magazine loaded up. The stock itself is an amazing piece of wood and quite honestly it turned out looking like a professional re-finish. I used Birchwood Casey Tru Oil and it really is quite beautiful.  I stripped it using Acetone and the original finish literally ran off in about 30 seconds. Remington covered up some fine looking wood back in the day.

The rifle shoots and functions perfectly but, I have my 39A and 10/22, so this one needs to go to a new home.

Pictures show the stock before refinishing and then how it appears now.
