AZantlerhead Report post Posted January 21, 2009 My Pops and I have allot of points on antelope and elk and were considering puting in together for our "dream hunt". How will our bonus points work? Or would it be favorable to just apply for the same hunts on different apps? I've heard many things but want the advice and opinions of our resident Outfitters, thanks. Also were interested in guiding 27 & 1 this fall. My dad's been liscensed awhile and I'm looking to cut my teeth. Thanks again, Dustin Luper
Red Rabbit Report post Posted January 21, 2009 I'm not an outfitter, but You and your dad's bonus points would be averaged (and rounded the next highest number if the average includes a 1/2). If there is only one permit left for a hunt and you two are next in the draw, you will not be drawn. If you both want to be on the same hunt together and at least one of you hunting, the best chance will be to put in seperately for the same hunt and hope one draws and the other can help on the hunt, If you both want to have tags for the same hunt, it is better to put in together on the same application. The odds are a lot less if you put in seperately and hope both draw. Good Luck.
daryl_s Report post Posted January 21, 2009 I feel like, for whatever reason, my odds are better of getting the lower draw percentage hunts if I put in alone. This past year was the first that I did and also the first year that I drew a Dec WT tag. My dad also drew a Dec WT tag and he was permit 40 out of 40. If I was on the app then, as RedRabbit pointed out, he would not have drawn that tag.
hunterdude Report post Posted January 22, 2009 One year I had 8 points for elk and a buddy of mine had 1. We put in on seperate apps. and his fifth choice was 6a rifle bull and mine was first choice his tag was 200 something and I was in the high 3oo's. Go figure!
