Ruger2506 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Hay there guys does anyone huint in 24a anymore.Hunted there this year and saw tons of deer coues and mule deer. Some great bucks in this area and not far out of town.I managed to stick a monster 3 point muley but never found him.Rained hard all day lost sign and never found him.Really sucks to lose an animal especially when they look like he did.I see a lot of bucks posted just not many from 24a.If I can draw a late whitetail tag that is where I will be,I have killed many coues out of this area and saw some toads. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Shhhhhhhh...... Stop talking up 24A!!! There are no deer here!! If there were, they would all be small. All we have is lots of lions. Actually, I think there are bunches of 24A deer in the photogallery. Too bad you lost that mule deer. I hope you come back out and look for him. You might find the carcass or skull. vml Report post Posted February 5, 2005 Ruger, It's sounds like you know there are deer in 24A, I was out scouting pig and hunting quail at the same time a couple of weeks ago in 24A plenty of sign and visual's of both deer species and pig, saw a few nice fat pigs, boy it's nice and green up there. I usually go south for the grey ghost because the draw percentages are better. Ruger go south . Amanda, After scouting for pig I decided to drive up to the Timber Camp area, I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful it was. I didn't go to far the roads were very muddy (traveling solo). I receive the Globe paper and glanced that they (?) are thinking about making it a recreation area or something in that order, in your opinion will it affect hunters? Hopefully the pigs will still be there in fourteen day's I will e-mail photo of the Timber Camp area (didn't see much sign). Post if you wish.

Ruger2506 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 Amanda, OOPS sorry dont want to let out the secret.Lots of people dont know just how many deer and game there is in 24A.I have lived here in globe all my life and I would have to say 24A is my first choice with 23 following a close second. But getting a tag is getting almost impossible.I would like to hunt down south but I dont know the areas very well.If you woiuld like I would take any suggestions on where to start hunting down there.I have not drawn a tag in 4 years now and it is getting tougher. My last three whitetail were in unit 24A and I killed every year.I spend every spare minute I have out there looking around.I am a coues die hard, they are a blast to hunt and a challenge.Your website is awesome and I am glad someone finally did this for these awesome animals.Well headed out to look for that mule deer,do you have a pig tag in 24a,I saw several groups of pigs in the area i was hunting if you are interested I can let you know the areas.Let me know. ConnXion Report post Posted February 9, 2005 My wife has a tag for 24a pig and I would love an idea on where to start looking. I have spent all of January down in the 36's due to my sons first hunt. He didn't get one but we spotted three and just couldn't get a clean shot. I haven't had a chance to do much scouting in 24a but I am going up this weekend and I am pretty familiar with the unit. Does anyone know if my wife can give my son this tag to use if he did not fill his tag? Thanks John
hunterdude Report post Posted February 10, 2005 I believe your wife has to go to a game and fish office to do this. Look in the g&f web site it has all the info about how to do it. Good luck.
