cramerhunts Report post Posted January 29, 2009 It was an awesome year for me! Besides scouting and horn hunting it started out with Rut's archery elk hunt. Then some scouting for my Arizona December Tag! And then down to Mexico for a little scouting. Back to Mexico in December for the first leg of that hunt. Back in Arizona for my late hunt. And to end it back to Mexico for the last leg of my hunt. A great season! Phil

Hiker Report post Posted January 30, 2009 Hiker, Is there any state you didn't hunt in last year? Those are some nice animals, congrats. Bret Bret, You are right, it does seem as if we were everywhere. I usually only hunt a couple of states per year but with my kids getting old enough to get into the draw, hopefully this will be more of a common thing, LOL! Thanks for the kudos. desertbowhunter Report post Posted January 30, 2009 Well guys 2008 was a good year for us, nothing real big for us but it was a fun year: The year started with the January bowhunt Then it was off to chase some spring gobblers with family and freinds I finally got my Az antelope tag after 14 years of applying!! Then I went on a 14 day elk hunt with my dad but Im sad to say I didn't get any pictures just alot of video. It was a fun hunt watching my dad pass up bull after bull (26 to be exact ) but he just couldn't get the right bull to to give him a shot. Then it was off to help some cousins on a whitetail hunt. The first picture is of my cousins first ever deer at the age of 31. We hunted in a place where his dad passed away in a tragic hunting accident about 16 years ago. It was the first time he's hunted in there since. The second picture is of another cousin that was there the day the accident happend. Both deer were killed within 500 yards of eachother. Then it was time to go with my brother and dad on a mule deer hunt, this is only my brothers second deer ever. He is a very busy man with him going to the u of a and all. So the time I get to hunt with him is special. Im also going to throw in his first deer ever since it was a whitetail(2007 ). All in all it was a fun 2008!!! crittergetter Report post Posted January 31, 2009 I had a great year. Twelve consecutive days of it was spent on a bear hunt. It took much longer then I expected, but worth it in the end. Going into this hunt I was expecting and prepared to take a long shot. However I ended up shooting this big boy at about 15-20 yards. If the shot didn't kill him, then the tumbled down the hill probably did. He was on steeeep and rocky side hill. A buddy and I started skinning him out at about 9pm and didn't finish until about 1am. It was only 3/4 of a mile back to the truck, but we would have broke something (ie..leg or ankle) going down that hill in the dark. We drapped the hide over some brush, hung the meat in a tree and sacked out on the hill till the sun came up. It was toughest hunt (mentally and physically) I have been on, but VERY rewarding. I measured the skull at 20 3/4". Had a great Coues hunt as well. It was just as exciting as the bear hunt...but in a different way.
