paul navarre Report post Posted January 17, 2009 Just to give you guys an idea how this buck scored I had thE buck measured last night. His "wet" score, appox, Gross= 92 Net= 87 He was measured as a 5x4 with a small nontypical point. Yes, he is going on the wall. I was soooo happy when I called my wife after I harvested this buck and she stated." You are going to have him mounted, aren't you?????????" I thought, " YES, YES, YES,!!!!!!!!!!" ZBAR Report post Posted January 18, 2009 Congrats! So what are your thoughts on coues hunting? I noticed on bowsite you hunt whitetail quite a bit.
paul navarre Report post Posted January 19, 2009 KQ, To me a whitetail is a whitetail, from Alberta to Mexico, and then West to East. They may live in different states, environments, terrains, but they all need food, water, and shelter. I notice that some bowhunters here, use tree stands, blinds or spot and stalk. All of these methods will work depending on the skill of the hunter and the terrain being hunted. I brought by Double Bull Blind, my tree stand and climbing stick, good boots and knee pads. I never did use the blind or tree stand because the situation required boot, camo, and knee pads and I spend some time in ambush situations. In the open terrain where one sits on a hill with a spotting scope, hunting these deer is like hunting pronghorn. The big question I alway ask myself is, "how can I get to within 30 of these deer?" There is no doubt that hunting these deer in the more open terrain, spot and stalk, is one of the most challanging hunts on earth. I know I was hunting at the start of the rut so I took advantage of that and hunted the doe groups and it payed off. Thanks for the question, Paul

Mr. Jonathan Report post Posted January 27, 2009 Hey Paul, just wanted to say congratulations again, it was nice to meet you in Nogales. And to let everyone know, I got to hold this deer's rack in my hands, and the pictures don't even do justice to this amazing buck. He's amazingly bladed on the right main beam and it curves in to the G3 in a very unique way. Great job Paul, and good luck!
