Birddog Report post Posted January 15, 2009 Good luck to all facing layoffs or may be closing the doors of your own business and to those that have already been layed off. My wife has medical issues and in 10 years of being married she has only been able to work about 4 of those years. I "make to much" for any kind of assistance and now layoffs. I hope all this turns around soon.
MidLifeHntr Report post Posted January 15, 2009 If anyone in Tucson is looking for some part time work I might be able to help. I own a real estate company that is handling quite a few foreclosures. I need people who are willing to trashout the properties. Also need someone to take pics and put lock boxes on. PM me if there is any interest or for further details. David If that was here in the Tempe area I would take you up on that! I have a second job at Bass Pro and they have cut back on hours so I have not worked there in a week. Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted January 15, 2009 Makes my stomach sick....I have three boys going to college, working part time, trying to start families...what do you tell them, hang in there and when you are done with school there will be a job for you? We give them all the help we can to pay for tuition and stuff but they really have to bust tail to help us help them. We had a teachers meeting so they could tell us of our budget cuts at our school, I teach woodshop so I am sure the axe will fall across my neck soon enough as things spiral down. We have been blessed with the work we have and I definitely don't have any room to complain compared to others. This country was promised blessings if we would follow the main man upstairs and this country has gone off the deep end. Bless all of you out there trying to raise a family, or just make a living and God bless our country.
ronaldo Report post Posted January 16, 2009 Lost my job of five years January first. I figured by doing three jobs at once and holding the fort down while my boss went on at least 2 guided hunts a year was enough. Guess what? Not a chance. He let me go on Dec 31. Ungrateful if you ask me. Hope he has fun working by himself 50 hours a week...Jerk... I hope he reads this... Ron
daryl_s Report post Posted January 16, 2009 I finally for the first time in my life drew a coveted 36C Dec tag last fall. I was so pumped and then as the time drew near things were really getting bad at work, layoffs like crazy. I ended up hunting only a few days and then I got laid off Jan 2. Figures, huh??? Now I have a lot more time and my hunts over. I don't have a reliable bow and don't need to spend any money right now so no Jan bowhunts for me . It's not looking good for work either. I'm guessing about 3 months for me.

Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted January 29, 2009 Here is a sign of the times for you....Lumber products out of Phoenix who I order lumber from for the school and when I do cabinets, had a sales rep stop by and give me a calendar, pencils and graph paper......first time ever that I have been doing business with them......he said they laid off 17 employees two months ago, thought they had their staff down to bare bones, then turned loose 10 more just this last monday. He said that none of the money that washington handed out made it to Arizona........ Gonna have to tighten up the belt and hunker down, it is gonna get rough....
