Dodgerboy999 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 fobs are the easier to deal with than putting your pants on in the morning. Plus the advantage to a fob is when you take a distance shot in some cover and have a pass through all you have to do is pick up your fob that serves as a marker and start blood trailing. fobs you have to have a drop away rest and have your local bow tech or yourself just time the launcher so the fob clears it plus when you buy them you get a clearance tester. If your from Tucson Jesse Lim of Saguaro tackle and archery is an awesome bow mechanic plus he sets all my rest up for the fobs.
Dodgerboy999 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 ps when fob pops of nock always stays attached so dont think you have to buy a surplus of nocks or that your gonna loose them.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 Two things I do not like about FOB's: One: You can not shoot for groups, as they break easily. Two: The impose on your lip when you anchor. A lot of people say you get used to them, but I didnt and they slightly altered my shooting form (which is bad enough!)
Dodgerboy999 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 Those are good points as far as the anchor point thing It just serves as a kisser button for me. group thing well the way I look at it they make targets today with multiple shooting spots so by shooting at a different dot every time it makes you focus that much more on each shot. where as 5 arrow group you may have 3 touching and 2 flyers and become complacent with that. Just my 2 cents but you are right they are not for everybody.
IHunt2live Report post Posted January 12, 2009 I have to say the the fobs seem like a great idea, but te last 3d shoot I went to a guy was shooting fobs and I thought they were a lot noiser in flight, never shot them though but might try someday
tfdpm126 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 I have been shooting fobs for about a year and think they are great. For one,its saves the hastle of gluing fletches. You just open the pack and pop them on your arrows and your good to go. They have worked great at stabilizing my fixed blade broadheads at far distances, and are a great marker for where to start looking for blood.
Dodgerboy999 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 it was just compressed air out of the rear end of the air foil which is fob if you stand down range they sound no different than a blazer vane. I noticed your from Tucson if you ever wanted to try them let me know by messaging me I could give you a few to try.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 Mike, from my understanding the noise is directed towards the shooter (back) but is not loud in the front and/or side. And as far as the FOB being a kisser button, that is one heck of a big kisser! Too big IMO, they do shoot nice though.
grizzly Report post Posted January 12, 2009 My brother tried to shoot fobs out of my Q2XL, the spacer showed they would clear but the very first shot cut through the brand new winners choice cable I had put on just a month earlier.
Coues Archer Report post Posted January 12, 2009 sounds like these things work but do have to glue in your nock every time it falls off. Or you dont have too glue it period if so great. Also i was wondering how are they on accuracy are they more accurat than regular fletched arrows.
BowNut Report post Posted January 12, 2009 You can find more info at starrflight.com. Not sure if you have yet or not but you need to go to there site and watch the videos. There videos and web site should help you out. You do not glue them at all the knock holds them on. On a pass thru you just pick them up and push them back on the arrow. You can also go to Archery Talk and get a ton of info on them.
crazy4COUES Report post Posted January 12, 2009 The turbo knocks are pointless IMO, stick with the fobs.
Red Rabbit Report post Posted January 12, 2009 I got to talk with Paul a while on my Dec coues hunt last year after he shot his buck. He gave me some FOBs to try. My broadhead groups tend to be slightly tighter. Using a longer nock can help reduce the face contact, as would shortening the draw/anchor spot from behind the ear or neck. Coues Archer Report post Posted January 13, 2009 So it would be smarter to use longer nocks when using these FOB's.
