Treestand Ethics

Recommended Posts

Is it right or even legal to leave stands up all year to guard your spot from anyone possibly trying to hunt the hill side. I think I am jst spot and stalking from now on. Just wanted some opinions I know of stands that have been hanging well over a year I mean maybe I should just put a stand up in the next tree over then just get there first.

I have no desire to hunt from a tree stand. I also have no desire to hunt the same spot someone is hunting. Most tree stand hunters are not hunting when i do. I do not bow hunt right now. I say move on and find another location. The law does not allow them to stay up all year, But it is not enforced in most cases i bet. But in the end it is first come first served so do as you will. I would also be ready for a heated confrontation, I know those guys think it is there spot. Once again i would move on.

No and No.

You will have more fun still-hunting or "spot and stalk" anyway, imo.

IMO the only way a treestand is really worth sitting is if no one else is around. Sitting on stand while other hunters are running around under you is not too great a plan. I think you have a huge advantage if he is sitting in his stand...just means he can only hunt that one spot...and that leaves the rest of the woods/area to you. ;)
