coueschaser3 Report post Posted January 5, 2009 I just got a screamin price on a pair brand new with paper work in the box. I have played around with the twelves at work but dont have the tens here. anyone have any input on the product and company? Previous optics were a ten year old pair of pentax 16x60's. What yall think?
GameHauler Report post Posted January 6, 2009 I personally do not like Steiners I do not like the color spectrum they produce and am not real fond of the clarity even before I bought my first Swaro's You ask, just my$.
bobbyo Report post Posted January 6, 2009 I like the eye cups. If you give the price you are getting them for we could probably give you a better idea if we think it is a steal. Because we can compare the Steiners to similar brands and decide if we would rather have the Steiners or the comparable priced Binocs. The overwhelming tint is the biggest issue for me as well. coueschaser3 Report post Posted January 6, 2009 Paid seven hundred even. They are listed here at work for 950 and a bit higher most places on the internet. I have been playing with the 12x50's to get an idea and i think they are gonna be a big step up from my pentax and a good step on my way to swarov's. Warranty seems nice and they are NIB. WFGinNM Report post Posted January 6, 2009 I have a pair of the 12x50 Predators, I really like the size and weight. To me they were a step up from my Monarch 10x42 ATB's, but they sure aren't Swaro's. I used the 12's literally side by side with the Swarovski 15's on my late November coues hunt, what a difference. I'm trying to sell my '70 Bronco so I can get some Swaro 15's of my own. --Bill

coueschaser3 Report post Posted January 6, 2009 I am sure i will like them better than the 15 swarov's but thats only because the swarovs dont go narrow enough for my eyes on a tripod. Much better glass but it doesnt help when they are rendered useless, i just plan on stepping up from pentax, which i hope is what i will be doing, for a while till i can get 10x42 el's. TwoGuns Report post Posted January 6, 2009 I bought my dad the 12x 50 predators few years ago and he likes them a lot and he sure is able to spot all kinds of animals with them. I think steiner makes quality glasses. IMO
ghost hunter Report post Posted January 6, 2009 I don't think you'll regret getting them. You will be amazed at what you can look at now. I bought a pair of 10x50 Steiners 20+ yrs ago. They are the military design. My only complaint is that they are heavy around the neck and there is no tripod adapter. I've messed around and built one myself, but it could be better. I would think the Predator model would have a tripod mount similar to the Swaro's. FWIW-I finally did buy the Swaro 15's and can't get over how much I probably didn't see over the years.
