In this day of Lapua, PRC and Nosler rounds his legacy is long forgotten. Sadly. In the era of muzzle breaks people have no respect for squeezing off a round on an old 10 pound rifle in 375, 458 or 460.

catclaw Report post Posted December 4, 2023 Dumoullin action, Black walnut stock, Pac-Nor sent me a 1-10 twist CM barrel blank... No muzzle brakes for me either. My 340 weighs 9#s all up. I suspect the 9.3 will be similar. I do have a 338 Norma with a brake, it is a dedicated prone LR rifle. Purpose built for LR elk. I'm taking it hunting tomorrow 🤞
Hoss50 Report post Posted December 4, 2023 Mine is still somewhat in the planning stage but right now has this current plan. Savage 110 long action. (Currently a 300WM) Shaw 20" SS fluted barrel heavy mag contour threaded 5/8"x24 for a suppressor. (Ordered) Bell & Carlson stock (may change) Scope, rings, bases (TBD)
catclaw Report post Posted April 2 Got it pretty much done. I'll Cerakote it Wednesday. Shot it Saturday. I've only shot 286 Hornady spire points. I'll use Partitions on my hunt. I'm waiting on rings for my Trijicon Credo 1-4. 8 ¼ lbs without sights.
Hoss50 Report post Posted April 4 Beautiful. How is the recoil? I am debating if i want to try and use a light stock or something a little heavier to soak up some recoil.
catclaw Report post Posted April 6 I put a different scope on it. I wanted lower zoom and illuminated reticle for my bear hunt. It has recoil but it doesn't bother me. I hold the forend even of the bench.

I hold the forend even of the bench. Let me know how it shoots. I am hoping my barrel shows up from Shaw soon. I am looking for stocks and if this lines up right maybe I will have it done in time for bear season and elk season.
catclaw Report post Posted April 7 So far, shoots everything right at 1MOA. I have a 1:10 twist barrel. It's hard to shoot little groups with a 4X scope. It might do better with the other scope on it.
Hoss50 Report post Posted April 8 Since it is realistically a 300 yard gun, 1 MOA is plenty.
catclaw Report post Posted April 9 If i somehow decide i need to shoot me than 200-250 yards, I'll trade my buddy for the 340 that he'll be carrying which will have a proper long range scope
