BAG'N'TAG Report post Posted January 3, 2009 Does anybody own or know anything about the 308 marlin express? I heard that the ballistics are almost the same as a 308 win.
Snapshot Report post Posted January 3, 2009 Go to the Marlin website, I think they have a comparison graph of the two. The Marlin express .308 is just a little slower (not much) than a standard .308, but the rubberized tips make it safe for tubular magazines on a lever action. It is a nice gun/caliber! Chef Report post Posted January 3, 2009 You can also check out marlinowners dot com for a ton of info on Marlin levers. They have a top notch forum; very informative.
bchoitz Report post Posted January 4, 2009 Don't know about the Marlins, but my Father-in-law used to hunt with a lever action Model 88 Winchester in .308. No need for blunt or rubber tips. He chose that because he is left-handed and when he purchased it left-handed bolts were very rare. Great rifle, but they are a bit pricey used. Bret
