fisher_hunt Report post Posted January 27, 2005 I hunt down in southern arizona and have never deer hunted this late into Jan. I'm thinking of driving down for the weekend to hunt but was wondering if the deer will still be rutting good. What has your past experiences been the last weekend of Jan? Dodger2 Report post Posted January 27, 2005 I was out Saturday morning and saw around 20 deer between 7:00ish and 10:00ish. We saw 7 bucks, 2 of which were in the 100" range and one 85" buck. They were still chasing the does around. I haven't seen the rutting activity this year like I saw last year. Saturday is supposed to be pretty rainy down here in Tucson so bring your rain gear. Arizonabowhunter Report post Posted January 27, 2005 I have only been hunting muleys and they seem to be tapering off a little, maybe this weather will bring a surge on the rut.
