AR Lowers…. Stock up!

Recommended Posts

Question..   is a straight AR pistol still legal if it does not have a stabilizing brace?  I understand that one with a brace is only legal with the ATF stamp. My question is specifically referring to ar pistols bought with the intention of being a pistol and will not have a stabilizing brace.  Meaning it can only have that weird little foam nub on the back of the buffer tube.  Just looking for clarification here.

Picked up my lower today.

is it ok to build a pistol with this new lower? They never asked me when I did the background and transfer if it was for a rifle or pistol.

sorry, not familiar with the process.

Yes you can build it into a pistol. The FFL should have listed it as a “frame” or “receiver” on the 4473

I always build any lower into a pistol first. That way you can top it with a rifle top, and back to a pistol.  Letter of law if you build rifle first, it is always a rifle.

If planning on doing a SBR, pistol first, test fire/fit. Make sure it works. Then do SBR paper work.
