Jeremyks Report post Posted December 28, 2008 Guys Im trying to make a decision on what scope to buy. I don't pack a lot so I have decided on the 80mm. What I can't decide is wether I need the HD and if I want the ats or sts. I have been told that the color is better with the HD and I believe color is an important thing when picking out animals. I will use the scope for some digiscoping but not planning on taking pics on the professional level just more of the hobby deal. I will also use the scope on a window mount quite a bit so I didn't know how well the ats does from the truck? Thanks for any help at all.
GameHauler Report post Posted December 28, 2008 I personally like the ATS better as I find it more comfortable to have my head angled down, especially if glassing up hill. The draw back is it can be harder to acquire you target.
JLG Report post Posted December 29, 2008 I have an 80HD ATS, I use it alot because my eyes aren't what they where. I find stuff with my 15's and than use the 80 to bring it in close. I realized yesterday when I was out, that wearing my glasses made a big difference in clarity, which honestly was disappointing. Wearing glasses cuts down on your field of view. My next purchase is going to be lazer surgery. I do like the ATS, because you can have the scope set lower on your tripod and it helps keep it more stable. Its a nice scope and I like having it, in my pack of tricks. What is the difference in price? I bought mine from www.bearbasin.com as a package deal, with a Velbon Carbon fiber tripod and a few other goodies, check them out, Take Care, JLG.
