Lance,

I really dont even know where to begin with this one.. Your post REEKS of delusions of grandeur.. 99.999 % of EVERYTHING you just typed was useless filler that you just used to make yourself sound bigger and more educated and has absolutely nothing to do with the original intent of this topic... Where, in any post or posts, did you read that we are a bunch of uneducated, drunk driving, F' bombing rednecks where a BAL level of .08 or higher is required to hunt with our terrified kid(s) sitting next to us while we blast rounds out of our redneck jacked up jeeps?? Not one person on here ever advacated those actions which you described.. Where, in any post or posts, was it said that most on here sling F bombs around their daughters, mothers and women in general and want to do the same on here?? Yet another use of "hot air" used to make your side seem bigger, better and more important.. Kinda like using BOLD text and making your letters RED..

Actually, I took offense to your post.. You insinuated that I am uneducated (in fact I am a college grad), cuss like a sailor in front of women (I have tact and taste, thank you), blare obsinities in the ear of my 16 month old daughter ( yeah right!), and drive around swilling booze while road hunting (you're hilarious!)!! You sir couldn't be farther from the truth.. You don't know me.. You have no idea who I am or how I am. All you know is a name who posts on here every now and then. Same with me towards you..For all I know, you could be a preacher in some morman chruch, or in that same token, peddle porno online.. I have no idea, nor do I care in the least. But I do NOT appreciate being lumped into your "devil spawn' that you described in your post. It was totally off-line and pretty much totally off topic. All that the topic was about is the fact that the word filter was a bit over the top and that it was filtering words that arent really cuss words at all.. If you think "h" word :o , and dam :o , are cuss words, you might want to lock your kiddos in their rooms til they are ready to face the real world out there. I heard the "h" word a couple of weeks ago in chruch.. Maybe you'd like to berate my priest who said it in front of ALOT of children too? Oh no, I just heard Hank Hill say "dam" just now on a daytime TV cartoon.. Hmmm, maybe you should not let the kiddos watch any TV at all.. See how rediculous all that sounds?? Just like alot of your post.. Get real!!

Your post was nothing more than a long winded attempt to get your opinion across..You did it, and that's that..It isn't going to change who I am, or anybody else on here. But we all know what opinions are like, because we all have them. Maybe you should get off your high horse and get back to polishing those church pews instead. Watch your mouth folks, Lance has the soap..

I'm done...

Sorry for the offense Scotty. My post was to anyone who thinks that they need to cuss on this site or anyone who wants to argue againts Amanda about it. If thats not you then as you said, why "The long winded attempt to get your opinion across"? If thats not you then I'm not talking to you. I said that his post reminded me of a guy. And that is just what it did, it reminded me of a guy and I shared the story. I never said this is Scotty. And I am glad you are not that kind of guy Scotty. Everyone, Scotty is not that kind of guy, sorry if my story insued that.

To Casey- I would have to say that 95% of the people I have hunted with have had no need for a cuss word in the field while hunting and have refrained from doing so. And have not lost any feal for the hunt in doing so either. And I have hunted with a wide variety. Point is, is that everyone has been asked to refrain from typing it on CWT. Like I said, I let one slip once in a while too, but cuss words can't "Slip" off of your fingers on a keybord like words from a mouth. Cuss all you want but just don't type it on Coueswhitetail.com thats all. I am glad that you disagree about the drunken hunter as well!

To everyone else- Yes I shared my opinion. I was asked to, and that is who I am. I was asked because of who I am. And I will always do my best to stick to my beliefs. Those who know me, know I have no high horse and am a humble man who tries to be a good man. No one is perfect and all we can do is try. If my attempts to try to be better offend anyone then guess what? Not my fault.

Yes, I dont think anyone, no matter who they are, should cuss. There I said it! woo woo dig deal. Im not gona force it on anyone. If that thought makes anyone think they are lower than me or makes me look like I am on some high horse then I'm sorry, that is your fault and not mine. That is my openion and I don't think it is such a big deal. I'm not gonna physically force it on you. If I were, then you would have something to talk about. If you were to try to force me to cuss then the same thing.

Like I said above! My post was directed to anyone who thinks they need to cuss on this site or anyone who wants to argue against Amanda about it. If that is not you then fine, good for you! If it is you, "then My opinion is", that you owe Amanda an apology.

Once again, Amanda this is a good site! It is the Best and you are taking it in the right direction!

Merry CHRISTmas to everyone!

Lance

I am against censorship; the public should be able to say what they want, when, where, and however they choose.

However, to make this analogous to hunting: You can't hunt on private ground without permission, and you can't say whatever you want on a private website without permission.

So I guess the whims of the tongue are still free in hunting camp, but the hands are chinese finger-cuffed on CW.

I've gotta say though -- censoring this site for children is ridiculous. Many people consider the blood and violence of hunting a greater sin than vulgar language. We all take for granted the image of a broken down dead animal, blood and gore on the smiling hunters.

Sticks (arrows) and Stones (metal ones) may break my bones (just ask a buck!) but Words will never hurt me!!!!

If your child surfs the internet, and you are worried about them seeing a swear word on CW, you've got your head in a hole about what else they have access to! ITS THE INTERNET!!!

Those that have been around a camp fire with me know that I can sometimes have a VERY foul mouth. Like most, I suppose.... As far as foul language on this site though, I try to limit it quite a lot. Primarily for the reasons that Amanda has pointed-out above.

I don't really see this as a censorship issue though. This is not a public forum (as much as it might seem like it....). It is a private place that Amanda started, and she obviously has the right to set the tone she wants. To me it is more a matter of respect. We all know the type of site that Amanda is trying to run here, and I personally don't find it very hard to limit my foul language. It reminds me of when I go see my mom, mother in law, or sister, or someone like that. I'm NOT going to use foul language for the few hours I might be with her cuz I know she wouldn't not appreciate it. That's how I look at this place....

All that being said, I can definitely appreciate the fact that at the end of the day this is a hunting website, and there is plenty of times when the extra color in the written words help GREATLY to make the desired point. It's always going to be that way, and I think Amanda realistically knows this....

Great post Tyson..

My beef isn't about cussing on this site at all. I RARELY have any need to come close to cussing on here to get any of my posts noticed at all. I just DO NOT like being told what I can and can't say and when and where I want to.. I really DO NOT like censorship. But on the same token, I can respect others, and know AND follow the rules when they apply (as in this case with this site).

Interesting topic. Not sure what good calling people "swearing rednecks", "morman preacher.....or peddle porno online" will do to help us come to some consensus but who knows... BTW, its Mormon, not morm"A"n. That was a joke, Scotty.

It's easy to come to our own conclusions on what peoples intentions are when they post. With that being said, a lot of the time it's taken the wrong way- whether or not someone has the proper way in expressing themselves or not.

I will say that I've hunted with both Scotty and Lance. Their intentions were and are always the best as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure both of you, if a little more time other than on this site was spent, would see that your ideals aren't so much different as they are the same. However, we all have different standards on what we feel is MORE right and MORE wrong. You want to see Lance get worked up, put some meat bees in his pants!!!! Ha ha!! Fun times... You want to see me get upset? Leave the cupboard door open and after the corner strikes my head, better plug your kids' ears for about 5 minutes! It's no longer black and white as it used to be....

Here are some things I've never understood. Why do people get so worked up if others want their children "raised in a 'bubble' "? Is being protective of your children a bad thing? Is monitoring what they watch a bad thing? Then there's always those critics who say "..you're being OVER-protective...". Guys, unless you literally have your children in a bubble for their entire lives, they WILL figure things out!

This is an easy one to get off subject, isn't it? I'll try to stick with it. I will say this, the people I've most admired in my life are those who were able to control their tongue, their anger and set an example for good in their home. I've tried to emulate that, and fall short quite often, but I haven't given up. Guys, none of us are perfect. But those of us who are NOT willing to compromise our standards, however different they may be, will always be a better and stronger person the next time we're presented with a challenge. Practice makes ______? You fill in the blank..

I grew up in a Mormon home and went to school and was friends with MANY who were not. To this day, many of the friends I had then, are still friends that I have now. Although I didn't always set the best example, my friends ALWAYS respected who I was and NEVER gave me a hard time about the standards being taught in my home. Nor did they ever want me to compromise them. They joked around with me sometimes but let's face it, if all of us Mormons were to take personally the jokes that are out there, we're in for a miserable life! Those are true friends, if you ask me. That's why I'm still friends with them to this day. They showed me that I didn't have to be like them in order to be liked. If you think I'm stepping on some of you to build myself up, get over yourselves! I've made it quite clear that I'm far from perfect. We all must be responsible for our words and actions and the repercussions they bring, whatever they may be...

Lets face it, the world isn't getting any easier. Especially for our kids! The more we let "slide", the worse it's going to get. Even if we're called fanatical, over-protective or anal, it's better than the alternative.....
