OK Brain Trust:

I'm looking at heading into the 34,35 or 36 areas for javalinas at the start of the year. How's the foot traffic down there? In years past (20 years ago) it was pristine. I was down there 4 years ago and there was trash everywhere and vehicles rumbling past camp in the wee hours. We saw 1 guy glassing the area...no rifle, camo's bow etc. Hunting alone and not carrying a sidearm...that you know of. Just wondering if law enforcement has gotten a bit of a handle on it. Thx. jim

Had the November hunt in 34B and there was new debris and trash everyday I went out. Hiked 2 miles from the nearest road and still found backpacks, water bottles and clothes in all of the washes.

Man that blows!!! It's really too bad, because thats a beatiful place to be this time of year. I remember a few years ago there was a BP guy who frequented this board...he told me there were places the trash was piled 6-8' high.

Last 3 days of the hunt I was commuting from home and found new "trash" each day. Over the Holidays I am taking my trailer and my family and we are going to clean up as much as we can.

It is a beautiful area with plenty of widlife but I'm sure all the foot traffic affected where the deer were.

I hunted alone for 2 days and carried a 9mm on my side.

Good Luck

I was down in 36b in Nov for my girlfriend's rifle hunt and it made me sick! Every wash, canyon, sattle, hillside or mountain top was littered with trash, backpacks and cloths. It is really sad and I get very heated just thinking about it. On two different occasions we had illegals walk into our camp. Be very carefull when you are down in those border units. I would not hunt down there without a side arm.

36 b & C are at risk units 36C has a high usage of drug traffic it's still real ugly down there. This time of the year is very active for the drug runners.

Of course there are illegals down there. I had one walk behind camp ( I think). I never saw any out there walking around.

Best you can do is carry a side arm. I know some people carry a side arm with the magazine in it, but not one in the pipe. Carry your side arm ready to roll and keep your wits about you.

There are illegals and drug runners everywhere....I would stay as far north as possible...in fact I would never wonder any further south than I-40.

It wasnt as bad this year than what I have seen in the past as far as trash.....Tracy was in our camp when we had the illegals come in... it was fine... they asked us a couple of questions and then were on there way....And I had also glassed up around 53 of them. I never carry a sidearm with me...And nor do I plan to. (Unless I am predator hunting). I had my rifles put away in there cases and never felt threatened once.... But then again when you see them.. different people have different reactions...(scared, upset...etc) and I think that kinda sets the tone.

Just do what feels the most comfortable to you...
