azshtr Report post Posted December 16, 2008 My brother went to the MVD for a plate or whatever, while there he asked for the OHV tag that will be required come Jan 1. They stated that was sold through Game and Fish. He speed dials G&F while waiting for the MVD person to do their thing and they said it was sold through MVD! To funny, he gives the phone to the lady at MVD and she talks with G&F for a bit. End of story... neither knew anything about getting the tags, when bro asked G&F guy if they would be ticketing for no OHV tags he said yes they would. What a racket... can't buy the tag but you can get a ticket for not having it! Its only 2 weeks to go, you would think they would have it worked out by now. What if you wanted to go hunting for 2 weeks starting at Christmas time?
TAM Report post Posted December 17, 2008 hike. No kidding dude! Some of us would prefer to ride the quad to the end of the road so we don't have to beat up our trucks.

I've found very very few parked at the ends of roads. In fact, I hardly find them parked ever. But I definitely have seen where they've been driven, and not a road in site. Benbrown Report post Posted December 17, 2008 Here in New Mexico, I found out that the quickest way that you get that information is to go to a dealer. They can tell you quickly how to get the tag.

You're right a lot of people abuse them, but don't just go assuming that everyone that has an ATV breaks the rules! There are numerous hunters and outdoorsmen that use them properly that don't like being lumped in with those that abuse the privelage. As I said before I don't want to thrash my truck on some of the tough dirt roads I use to access the areas I hunt. What's wrong with that?
willhunt4coues Report post Posted December 17, 2008 What I don't get is that G&F requires these tags but they are sold through the MVD. Shouldn't G&F sell them? Better yet shouldn't the forest service sell them it is there land? What the heck is going on? Next thing you know we will have to apply for elk, deer, ect. though the Utah G&F and pick up our tags in person in Colorado.
