standman Report post Posted December 13, 2008 I was able to take my nephew on his first rifle coues deer hunt which was in unit 23. I first found this buck on Wed. morning chasing a doe and knew that he was the kind of buck we were looking for. Friday morning came and the hunt didn't last long as I glass two bucks with a doe within 5 minutes of starting to glass. The big one was the one we wanted. After figuring out a plan to get closer we were able to close to 300 yards. The first shot went right over his back, the buck walked a couple of steps and the second shot put him right down.
