GHOSTLUVR Report post Posted December 13, 2008 Well, I was just wondering if any of you have any weird things that you just have to have with you on your hunt? Kalyn built this last year and gave it to me as a, "Lucky Charm!" The arrow head she found on our property, the white round thing is a piece of a shell, and the necklace is the lace used for wrapping presents (the kind you curl with a scissors.) It itches my neck and almost drives me crazy! She insisted I wear it on my October hunt last year. First day wearing it I killed the buck in the photo. In January I was wearing it when I killed my largest archery whitetail. Needless to say, I haven't hunted without it since. If you look at the posts on Kalyn's first deer and elk, you can see that she is wearing it as well. Hope I'm not the weirdest one on here!!! What do you all have? Red Rabbit Report post Posted December 13, 2008 I was once given a poisonous bean before a hunt. Kalyn seems to have given you a charm that works well.
cjw2222 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 I was hiking this year, probably 3 miles from the nearest road, during my turkey hunt and i stumbled upon a little rubber turkey figurine that looks like it goes on top of a car antenna. I looked at my buddy and said "were gonna kill a turkey today." Well later that night we killed my first turkey after 3 previous unsuccessful hunts. It now resides on top of the shifter for my truck. Now every where i go, it goes too. It's a great, and kinda hick, conversation starter and always gets a good chuckle out of unassuming passengers... Wether or not it's actually good luck is beyond me, but i sure dont take any chances
IHunt2live Report post Posted December 13, 2008 During the early archery season I was walking to a hill top and found a horseshoe. I usualy don't bother picking them up but the first thing I thought when I saw it was, "A lucky horseshoe I better pick it up". Later that morning I stuck my first archery coues. I haven't brought it on my other hunts but maybe I should.
SilentButDeadly Report post Posted December 13, 2008 I pick up every horse shoe I find, as well as old lost arrows, and antlers for that matter... My lucky charms are tortoises; whenever I see one I know I'm going to have some luck that day. A walking tortoise (noisy little thing scraping along the ground) covered for me on the stalk that I took my first buck. T

daryl_s Report post Posted December 13, 2008 I absolutely will not go out clean shaven. I have to have a goatee or something going. My last buck I shot I had the goatee look. The two following years I did not have it and came home empty handed. My two scouting trips for this hunt yielded good results and I had the goatee. I'm heading out in a few hours to start my late hunt and I haven't shaved. I don't like having a beard or goatee because it bothers me but it's not coming off until I tag out or Dec. 31, whichever comes first.
WFGinNM Report post Posted December 13, 2008 Usually If I hear AC/DC on the radio on the way to a hunt somethinig is going to die. Can't be planned, no CD's, IPOD's. It has to play on the radio. --Bill

firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted December 22, 2008 Glad that this brought up! I have a few: The teeth from both of the elk I have killed sit on a necklace in my backpack at ALL TIMES. Another is my RMEF hat. I got it in 2001 or 2002. Something like that. Got it from the RMEF banquet... The lady was hitting on my dad something fierce. Gave it to him for free. I have taken and helped taken more animals with that hat than I care to count. It used to be black but is now brown. Also, when ever we kill a buck we always hang his "stuff" in the tree right next to/ closest to where he died. A few examples of the "good luck cap" Bill, along those same lines.. When I go predator calling I ALWAYS play a certain CD.. The first song on it is "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor". Is there anythingt better than that while going hunting for fur?
