6.5 prc ammo question

Recommended Posts

I just ordered this caliber in a browning x bolt. The gun has a 26” barrel with a 1:7 twist rate. I live and hunt at 6500ft. Will I have any issues shooting hornady 143 grain eldx from this rifle?

Should have no problem. I actually have 100 rounds for sale if you’re interested.

You should be fine. That twist is pl plenty fast for that bullet.

That twist was designed for the heavy 153 grain bullets but it should perform admirably on the 143 bullets.

If buying factory ammo would the 147 eldm be better?

I wouldn't shoot ELDM at animals larger than deer.

Frankly a difference of 4 or 5 grains of bullet weight would not show up on paper or field. Over spin is not a factor in this scenario.
