azyota Report post Posted December 9, 2008 Don't think I'll make it out opening weekend. I need to do some work on my truck. But after that I have a monster I saw in rifle season that I'm hoping to find again.
Petersen Report post Posted December 10, 2008 Me and a couple of buddies are heading down to 36A on Friday for a week or so. I was there three or four years ago and there was plenty running around. Hopefully I can get my first coues with a bow. If not, a muley might work as well.
Mr. Jonathan Report post Posted December 10, 2008 I guess I'm not alone here either. Up until January I'll be out there with my binos. Come January though, I'll have my Airborne in hand! Thanks again to all who have been so helpful and generous to me. I've only seen one buck so far, but I've been finding a lot of does and I'm finally starting to pick these critters up in the glass. I know it's a long shot, but I sure hope I can get a picture of me and a deer on this site by the end of January. either way, it's gonna be a great time. Its been a great time already. Snapshot Report post Posted December 11, 2008 I have to wait until January, but I hope to get out for a few days. I would only shoot an exceptional buck if I had the opportunity, but on the other hand I have to prove to Casey that I can take a good buck 2 years in a row
AZantlerhead Report post Posted December 11, 2008 Waiting till Jan as well . Hope to get a nice buck out of a particular shed honey hole this year. 27 is finally open for late archery this year. Haven't hunted there in 10 years for late archery, I can't wait. I kinda know what i'm doing now Should they be back out of the rut in their normal routine by then? Basically, you think they'll be living back where they drop they're sheds ? Weve pulled out about 50 coues and muley sheds from this spot in 4 years. bout 6 sheddin trips. So i'm really pumped about this spot. Any advice on their Jan habits here in az? All the advice on t.v and the mags is about darn iowa or sasketchewan ya-know. Coues Archer Report post Posted December 15, 2008 Good luck to all you guys. hope you have luck. But before you guys go from recent scouting trips i've notice the deer in lower elevations aren't chasing yet. but the deer in the higher elevations are already chasing. Is it a difference in climate or something?
Mr. Jonathan Report post Posted December 15, 2008 Purchased my tag and 09 license today, along with a manfroto tripod with some leftover b-day cash. January first can't come soon enough now!
paul navarre Report post Posted December 15, 2008 I wil be leaving from Colorado on Jan 6 and can hunt 2-3 weeks. This will be my forth trip down and will be trying a few new areas. Bring my backpack, etc, to bivy hunt. Hope I can find enough water in places. I have had fair luck with previous harvests but hope to find a larger racked one this year. Killed a Nebraska and Kansas WT and hope to make Arizona , number three. The last time I hunted near Portal two years ago, it snowed 6 inches. Well, at least it made me feel at home. Good luck to all. Paul
