thequest Report post Posted December 8, 2008 I got to hunt this year with a "leftover" tag in 34A this year. It was my first hunt down south, and got down there a couple of times to scout. Went down with a buddy of mine that I haven't hunted with in a long time. Thursday afternoon we glassed up a monster...real heavy, outside his ears. He was bedded and got to watch him till dark...thinking we were going to have a shot at him on opening day. However, he had other plans...we looked for that buck for Friday, Sat, and Sunday...seeing lots of smaller bucks, endless does..but never him. I glassed this buck up Sunday night and decided if I got the chance, I would go after him Monday. My buddy glassed him up as he bedded and I couldn't resist. It's my first Coues and he's not a trophy by most standards, but he is to me.

bchoitz Report post Posted December 9, 2008 Congratulations, looks like a fine buck to me! The first is always a trophy. That big one will be waiting for you next year, in the same area. Way to go! Bret
williamsaz Report post Posted December 9, 2008 Congrats on a nice buck. The eye guards are nice, similar to my late Nov. unit 34A buck.
