Ed67 Report post Posted April 22, 2023 Anyone have a spare powder actuated nail gun so I can nail studs into a concrete floor? I can buy or trade 9mm, 45ACP, 6.5 Creedmoor 143 ELDX. Preferably one ready to go, functioning with the 22 blanks and nails. TIA

andyyy Report post Posted April 22, 2023 no problem man, use glue if using the small light duty nail setter and you’ll have to use less fasteners
Ed67 Report post Posted April 23, 2023 All good I’m learning for sure. I’m building a small insulated room 12-16 in the basement of my cabin. Nothing major, no plumbing but I’ll wire it. Use it for extra sleeping quarters. I’ll take all the advice available. O yea it’s in major snow country.

Boarman03 Report post Posted April 23, 2023 FYI, for Old concrete you may be better off drilling and using Redheads instead of Ramsets. Ramsets may just shatter and chip the concrete.

Boarman03 Report post Posted April 23, 2023 1 hour ago, muledeerarea33? said: Tapcons work well. Actually cheaper as well. Drill your hole to the proper size, cleanaway the dust, and run your tapcon. You can drill through your wood, but better to use wood bit for that. Then a concrete hammer drill and drill bit, canned air or air compressor, or shop vac., with eyes and breathing protection, and then run your tapcon. You could use liquid nails underneath the base plate as well. This also works for replacing tack strips for carpet on old concrete. Redheads were a predecessor to Tapcons. I guess it goes with my age.
