Dec Archery Hunts

Recommended Posts

Do any of you fellow archers who plan on being in the field for the opening day of the Dec archery hunts (in the southern units) have any problems doing so even with the late rifle hunts going on as well? I for one feel like i have just as much right to be out there chasing the critters with my bow as do the rifle hunters, but i also know that alot of rifle hunters get real pissy when they see bowhunters in the same areas, any thoughts?

I guess it just all depends on were you are. I've archery hunted in Dec in a popular unit in a popular place and have rearly ran into rifle hunters. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Seriously, there have been several threads in the past about the !&$^@ bowhunters getting in the way of the rifle hunters. I don't have a solution. All I know is the more infighting we have between bow hunters and rifle hunters, the easier it will be for G&F to dump their autocratic bs on all of us.

You do have just as much right to be out there as the Rifle hunters. If you have a license, a tag and it's open season then it shouldn't matter. That's like the people who drag a dead tree across a road because they want exclusive access to a public area. I have a December 36C tag and if you come across my camp you're more than welcome to stop by.

It's always been my experience that rifle hunters tend to get in bowhunters' ways. Seems to be something about cruising around on a quad and the ability to fling lead out several hundred yards that has led to more than of few of my stalks blown in the past. Needless to say though, that's not all rifle hunters, and there's plenty of bowhunters that act like yahoos and run around on quads as well. Daryl and bowsniper put it well, when we point the finger at each other it's not helping the hunting population as a whole out at all. As long as we're all participating in our respective seasons legally and ethically, we should learn some meekness and mutual respect for each other.

Well i will be in 36C with a friend of mine Friday and Saturday chasing deer with our bows, not going to camp but will drive in and out each day. Good luck to all who will be out.

I see you are from Tucson, what part? I am too and I am wondering how long it takes to drive to 36c? I am planning on staying in 33 and maybe 37m because I will be hunting only a day or two at a time.

From where i Live in Tucson it takes me roughly an hour to drive to where i hunt in 36C which is fairly close to the middle part of the unit.
