DesertBull Report post Posted December 2, 2008 For starters, he has already promised to try and take away every states CCW permits. He has voted to ban ALL SEMI-AUTO weapons. That includes the Remington 1187 and Browning Buckmark.
TAM Report post Posted December 2, 2008 I have a feeling that CBASS is a troll but I'll go ahead and respond anyway. Reinacting the assult weapons ban, making it permanent. Child proof locks on all guns. No gun shops or manufacturers within 5 miles of a school. Making the manufacturer of assult weapons illegal in the US. 500% federal tax on ammo and components. Making the sale of brass, bullets, primers, and powder illegal. Doing away with concealed carry permits. Making it illegal to carry a gun in your vehicle or person. Allowing gun manufacturers to be sued for guns used in crimes.
cbass Report post Posted December 5, 2008 A troll? I am not sure what you mean by that, but I will let you know where I am coming from. I am not a hunter (although I would like to get involved in bow hunting), I do not own any guns, I voted for Obama, and I am interested in the ideas/concerns of gun owners here in Arizona. I do have a question about your comment; you say that Obama will be, "Making the sale of brass, bullets, primers, and powder illegal", are you suggesting that he will make the sale of bulllets illegal? I thought that it was only ammunition that was marketed as armor-piercing that would be banned. I understand that some ammunition used for hunting is considered armor-piercing, but it isn't marketed in that way.
TAM Report post Posted December 5, 2008 A troll is a person that goes to a chat forum with the intent of stirring the pot and creating contention. The bullets from most hunting rifles will pierce through a 1/4" steel plate at 100 yards. I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure that regular hunting bullets fired from a hunting rifle will penetrate most police bullet proof vests. Just do a google search on Obama and guns, or Biden and guns to see there history. The threat of bullets being banned is very real. Many people believe that bullets/ammunition will be banned before guns. Try doing a google search on banning bullets as well and you'll be very surprised at what you find. Many politicians believe the 2nd ammendment only supports a persons right to bear arms...... but not bullets. The other threat is EXTREME taxation on bullets. BO openly supports a 500% tax increase on bullets. Another piece of the Obama/Biden gun ban agenda is to develop the technologh to some how stamp or encrypt a code on all bullets and or bullet cases. That way when a person buys ammo the code is registered in that persons name and when that bullet or case ends up at a crime scene they trace the bullets back to the purchaser. Part of this deal is that after a certain date all bullets and brass that are not stamped must be destroyed. http://www.gunbanobama.com/Default.aspx?Na...e6-892463d99f08 http://www.ontheissues.org/domestic/Barack...Gun_Control.htm

billrquimby Report post Posted December 6, 2008 "I do have a question about your comment; you say that Obama will be, "Making the sale of brass, bullets, primers, and powder illegal", are you suggesting that he will make the sale of bulllets illegal? I thought that it was only ammunition that was marketed as armor-piercing that would be banned. I understand that some ammunition used for hunting is considered armor-piercing, but it isn't marketed in that way. " It appears you are confusing the word "bullet" with "cartridge" or "shotshell." -- A bullet is the projectile that is fired through the rifled barrel of a rifle or handgun. -- A cartridge is comprised of a brass case, a primer, gunpowder, and a bullet. -- Ammunition is a supply of cartridges or shotshells. -- A shotshell is what we shoot in shotguns, and consists of a plastic or paper cylinder with a brass bottom, a primer, wads, and lead (or steel) shot. Reloading our own ammunition is a rewarding activity for millions of hunters and shooters that results in better performance and monetary savings. Reloading also allows us to tailor our ammunition to a specific purpose. Eliminating sales of the components we use in reloading our ammuntion would eliminate our freedom to do this, cost us money, and keep us from developing the best loads for our individual firearms. Incidentally, all of the so-called "solid" bullets that we use in Africa and Australia for large game animals would be banned under any definition of "armor-piercing." How a manufacturer markets them would not exempt them from prohibition. We also need larger calibers for large game, and proposals to ban .50-caliber-and-larger rifles and ammunition (as some have proposed) would make it illegal to own some very fine hunting rifles, at least two of them owned by this writer. elkaholic Report post Posted December 16, 2008 -----hello - heres some nra news -information we all need to know - nra members or not !! -Don't think for a minute we don't need someone looking out for our rights and willing to take a stand to defend them !! --**** Alert *** Alert *** Alert **** Dear Fellow NRA Member, In the next few days, you'll receive your new NRA membership card. The moment you receive it, I urge you to validate your new membership card as soon as possible. More than ever, we need you to stand with NRA and fight to save our Second Amendment freedoms. Because Barack Obama's campaign promise not to take away our guns is a lie. He's not even in office, yet he's fired the opening salvos in a war against the future of the Second Amendment, our hunting and shooting traditions, and YOU. Obama's FIRST attack on YOU: Appointing Illinois Congressman Rahm Emanuel to be White House Chief of Staff. In Congress, Emanuel earned an "F" rating from NRA, and while working in the Clinton Administration, he was known as the "point man on gun control." He is an avowed enemy of the Second Amendment and will wield enormous power in the battle for the future of our firearm freedoms. Obama's SECOND attack on YOU: If Hillary Clinton is confirmed as Secretary of State, she'll rip the Second Amendment right out of the Bill of Rights. She'll be our nation's top diplomat with the power to determine whether the United Nations will pass, and Obama will sign, a global gun ban treaty that will surrender our Second Amendment rights and our national sovereignty. Obama's THIRD attack on YOU: Nominating ex-Senator and former Majority Leader Tom Daschle-an avowed enemy of NRA-to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. NRA was responsible for defeating Daschle when he ran in South Dakota for re-election to the Senate. If Daschle is confirmed, he could hold the ultimate power to declare guns a "public health menace" and regulate away our essential liberties. Obama's FOURTH attack on YOU: Nominating Eric Holder to be Attorney General. As former Assistant Attorney General, Holder was a key architect and vocal advocate for the Clinton era's sweeping gun ban agenda. He supported national handgun licensing, mandatory trigger locks, and ending gun shows as we know them. Just recently, Holder opposed the District of Columbia's Heller decision that declared the Second Amendment an individual right. Holder also called for reviving the Clinton gun bans and, as Attorney General, would fight in court to prevent the landmark Heller decision from being made applicable to state and local governments. Worst of all, if Holder is confirmed as the nation's top law-enforcement officer, he would control BATFE and wield enormous power to harass gun owners and sue America's arms makers out of existence. Obama's FIFTH attack on YOU: In the job application for the Obama Administration, he made it clear that gun owners are second-class citizens and told 80 million gun owners not to even bother applying for a job. In the "White House Personnel Data Questionnaire" he asked: "Do you or any members of your immediate family own a gun? If so, provide complete ownership and registration information. Has the registration ever lapsed? Please also describe how and by whom it is used and whether it has been the cause of any personal injuries or property damage." This chilling notice to gun owners-that they are not welcome to serve in his Administration-shows the deep hostility for Americans' Second Amendment Freedoms that Obama and his Administration have in their hearts. On its face, that question endorses gun registration-a mandate in only five states in our nation-and buys into the anti-gun premise that firearms are inherently dangerous and gun owners are prone to misusing them. That's an outrageous mindset, especially for the President-elect whose sworn duty will be to uphold the U.S. Constitution, including our right to keep and bear arms. Obama CLEARLY wants to make gun registration the law of the land. First for employees under his control...AND THEN FOR YOU. Working with a Congress dominated by gun haters like Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, John Conyers, Henry Waxman, and Charles Schumer!!! Rubbing salt in gun owner wounds is the Brady Campaign, which just issued a completely bogus poll claiming that two-thirds of the Americans-including 60% of all gun owners-favor gun registration, licensing of firearm owners, and other sweeping restrictions on our firearm freedoms! Add it all up and you have the potential for a Second Amendment disaster that's unlike any other NRA members have ever battled. That's why we need the strongest possible commitment from EVERY NRA member, starting today. That's why I'm hoping you'll validate your new NRA membership card the moment you receive it. Because our greatest strength is you. Only by working with you can NRA hold the line against these threats from every quarter. We are the one force that has the strength to keep Americans free and our rights intact for future generations. With you at our side, we will fight and we will prevail against all odds. Thank you for your loyalty to NRA and the cause of Freedom.
TAM Report post Posted December 17, 2008 Here is another reason we don't need more gun laws. I especially like the last paragraph. FBI's Crime Report Bad News for Anti-Gunners Friday, September 19, 2008 This week, the FBI released its crime report for 2007 and, once again, gun control supporters are taking it on the chin. It's not just that the nation's violent crime rate decreased slightly between 2006 and 2007. It's that every year since 2002 it has been lower than anytime since 1974, leading the Justice Department to say that violent crime is "near a 30-year low." Since 1991, violent crime has dropped 38 percent. Murder is now at a 40-year low, lower than anytime since 1966 every year from 1999 to the present, and down 43 percent since 1991. "More guns means more crime?" Only in anti-gunner "La-La Land." Violent crime has fallen as the number of guns has increased 4.5 million a year. There are more gun owners, owning more guns than ever before, and violent crime is lower than anytime since Gerald Ford became president! We can hardly wait to see the Brady Campaign try to spin this one with its asinine "state grades" stunt. In 2007, the major U.S. cities with the highest murder rates were cities with severe gun control. The top three? Detroit (where Michigan law requires a permit to purchase a handgun), Baltimore (where Maryland law restricts private handgun sales and requires a seven-day waiting period on handgun sales by dealers), and the District of Columbia (with its handgun ban and its firearm registration law). Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and D.C. had the highest robbery rates. In 2007, as in years past, Right-to-Carry states had lower violent crime rates, on average, compared to the rest of the country with total violent crime lower by 24 percent, murder by 28 percent, robbery by 50 percent, and aggravated assault by 11 percent. Further, in 2007, 32 percent of murders were committed without firearms of any sort--knives accounted for 12 percent, hands and feet six percent, and blunt objects four percent. Rifles and shotguns (semi-automatic and otherwise) accounted for three percent each, and typically "assault weapons" have accounted for about one percent.
