firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted January 24, 2023 Been hitting the duck hunting hard this year. Haven't killed anything super cool, mostly widgeon, a few mallards, and green wing teal. Got this beauty Sunday and wanted to share. 11

Chef Report post Posted January 25, 2023 LOL, I have not, although I've had some pretty stanky duck before. Kind of like the essence that frog legs and turtle are known for. I season heavy and accompany with a tacky sauce such as habanero infused honey, or ginger/chile orange marmelade. Usually does the trick. 1
Heat Report post Posted January 25, 2023 Saw a few canvasbacks today buzzing the All American Canal. Gave me a semi.

Put a stalk on a beautiful pintail jumped him at about 60 yards got off three really good shots but none of them connected. That's about the closest opportunity I've ever had in a pintail. Went over to a different tank stalked it knew one of these was sitting there shot it.

The flavor (good or bad) is in the skin on ducks so as long as you get it off they are fine for poppers etc. I save mallards, teal and wood ducks for plucking. We raise several breeds of ducks and fowl for meat and eggs. The Muscoves are easy keepers and pretty quiet..lots of meat and eggs out of them.
