ElkDeer Report post Posted November 13, 2008 Was curious to see if anyone had pics of some bedded bucks. Was out last week glassin' and wanted to find a bedded deer but didn't. Thx!
Huntaholic Report post Posted November 13, 2008 Here's a few I was able to find. Unfortunately they are stills taken from video so the quality isn't that great. It's a lot harder to find bedded bucks than you might think by looking at these pics because I'm zoomed way in on these deer. I'll try to find a better example of what you might see looking through a pair of binos.

Huntaholic Report post Posted November 13, 2008 Here's probably a better example of what a bedded buck might look like through binos. Once again this is still from video so obviously looking through binos would be much clearer. I took stills as the deer beds to help show how easily deer can disappear once they lay down. As you can see in the last pic bedded deer are pretty hard to see especially when they don't move. This buck actually laid his head down on the ground for about 15 min and took a nap. During this time I could not see him at all. If I didn't already know he was there I would have never found him. Here's another close one I was able to find. IHunt2live Report post Posted November 14, 2008 I don't have any pics but I have a story. Back in High school I did a lot of siting in a tree stand I built in the flats for mule deer. Its amazing what the 10 feet in eleaviation did to icrease visablility, wasn't all that good but tons better. Anyway, I was sitting up in the stand one afternoon, after classes, I think it was just a scouting trip and I was glassing. At about 200 yards I saw something through a tree that looked intrusting. I kept going back to it, and it seemed to move a little. I came to the conclusion it was a rabbit or the ear of a deer. Sure enough after about an hour a doe gets up from that very spot. She started walking my way and three fawns fallowed, they came to within 50 yards of me. I cound't believe that I spotted that thing.
