azhuntnut Report post Posted November 11, 2008 Opening morning of my wt hunt found me playing cat and mouse with a buck. About ten in the morning he finally lost me in a deep ravine. He wasn't a buck I wanted to shoot, so I thought I would do a little calling in the area since I had been seeing a ton of fox scat on the ridges. I hadn't hit my call twice and a fox came out of the bottom at 300 yards. I stopped calling and let in come in. When it popped up at 100 yards, I dropped her in her tracks. There was quite a bit of pelt damage due to the .243 light magnums, but I skinned her and plan on making her into a decoy for coyote hunting. I shot the male last year within two hundred yards of this one. David
willhunt4coues Report post Posted November 12, 2008 That is a great looking fox. Congrats. Last year I walked up to within 10 feet of a fox on my deer hunt and let him go because I didn't want to spook anything out of the area. Guess what we saw only a dang doe. Next time I will take the shot.
