Jazz Report post Posted November 22, 2022 Wow, not what I expected. I kinda found them, but not nearly in the numbers I expected. We'll see what the rifle bull hunt does to them, and what kind of weather is expected early Dec. Hope to get up there this weekend and scout more east of the 89. Most of the water holes were full... don't see myself sitting water on this hunt though.
bigorange Report post Posted November 22, 2022 Same with me on the Unit 10 early hunt. Saw a couple bulls the whole hunt and that was it. The one hunter I know that tagged out said his was the only elk he saw the entire hunt and appeared right at last light.

6AYoteHunter Report post Posted November 23, 2022 Statewide numbers have to be way down. With the drought impacting small game numbers so bad all the predators are surviving off big almost exclusively. Have seen mtn lions hunting in pairs more than ever. Coyotes coming in as an actual pack setup for big critters not rabbit hunting pairs. Even premium units finding elk takes a lot of work. Saw my local deer herd drop from 29 to 3 in the last few years. Crazy times.
