First, thanks for all your replies and support. Kalyn got up early to read this before school. What a great way to keep the moment alive.

I built Kalyn a rifle on a budget. Savage 7mm-08 (sorry Lark) won on raffle at MSA Banquet. Cut down to 19.5" length of pull, muzzlebreak and Bushnell Elite 3200 tacticle scope. Speaking of, anybody looking for a no frills tacticle scope on a budget, this is a mill-dot fixed 10X scope with target turrets around $200 (excellent warranty). Sounds like junk, but I assure you it is an excellent scope! I never had Kalyn shoot more than 3 rounds out of the 7mm-08 at a time to avoid shying her. She practiced to 500 and I was extremely confident in her at 300-350 (didn't need it thankfully). I can't tell you how much she shot the 22 mag. We would walk from our house with our gear and shoot rocks at different angles, distances and positions. This gun is set up the same as her 7mm-08 and she was able to shoot up to 200 with it (very realistic practice). I took the pan head off my Slik Pro Tripod and screwed a V Yolk on top. Kalyn couldn't quite figure out how to balance the shooting sticks and this combination proved to work well for her (shot her deer prone, but was ready for anything). Maybe a little lengthy answere for your question, but maybe it will help another parent and child.
