peckl1 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 Just in case you don't know I travel for work. Last week I was in Anchorage and this week I'm in Billings MT. I have the good fortune of visiting Cabelas, Bass pro shops and Sportsmans all over the country. Tonight I went into the Sportsmans here. What a difference than Tucson. Every single person that worked there stopped and asked if they could help me. In Tucson I have to go looking for someone if I need help. It made such and impression on me I had to post it here. yotebuster Report post Posted November 4, 2008 I will admit, those folks in Montana are about as nice as they come, with the exception of us ND fellas! I will tell though, if you wanna see nice people, go to Saskatchewan. If you stop in to a farm to ask permission to hunt, pretty soon you're sitting down to a home cooked meal and a cold canadian brew. It actually becomes kind of problematic as its hard to get any hunting done without feeling rude about not staying to chat!!! I have to admit there are a ton of nice folks down here though, there just happens to be quite a few more pricks mixed in with them then back home.
4Falls Report post Posted November 6, 2008 Got some sad news here in the Prescott area... Sportsmans Warehouse has pulled out of its plan to build here at least for the near future.
TAM Report post Posted November 7, 2008 That is about the worst news I've heard all day!
IHunt2live Report post Posted November 7, 2008 I get the same impression in the Tucson store. I heard that they are closeing some Sportsman's, any one else hear that?
Benbrown Report post Posted November 7, 2008 They have already closed all the stores that they identified earlier in the year. It didn't take long--they closed one of their two stores in San Antonio, TX, and it was closed within a week or two of the press release. Haven't heard about any more closings. The Shooting Wire usually posts these things promptly after they are announced and I have seen nothing on their site...
