Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted November 5, 2008 I think it's funny to read your post, 'cause I just read a different post that illustrated very well why I'd rather see guys "sighting in" their rifles at the range, rather than in the feild at an animal! Again, at least they were at the range and it's probably not a bad thing that they were "really" making sure it was sighted in! Sorry to hear it ruined your time though, incidents like that are why I take my "nut-giggler" out to my own private range out in the desert! JIM> +1!!!! Ya know.... I been thinkin' about this thread a bit, and the Carl painted a picture in that 1st post.... I guess he could have called me by name.... ... but, I am glad he didn't! Here is how I fit: I am 33 yrs old.... almost middle aged and.... Here is one of my tats.... Here is my Nut-Giggler, with custom break..... Difference is that My nut-giggler has helped 6 AZ public land critters hit the dirt in the last 11 months... 5 of which were for kids aged 11-17!!! Not to mention the previous half dozen kills it has.... But, I could easily be the guy you outlined in this post..... Thanks for the gut check, Carl.... I don't want to be exactly like those guys.... Ever!!! We have all seen them.... I think we call them Posers!!! They are the guys that spray the hills with lead when hunting, because hunting and shooting off a bench are two very different things! WadeNAZ Report post Posted November 5, 2008 Yeah, and all you AR Rangers need to get a brass deflector or a net at your bench. I'm tired of getting hot brass rained down on my beautiful, bald head. Amen to that (except the bald part) You gotta love those guys decked out with all their tac gear with their chests puffed out. My dad had one of these yokers raining brass on him and shooting through his target into my pop's. I thought it was going to get ugly but luckily my brother was able to moderate....dang my brother! BuckNasty Report post Posted November 5, 2008 My brother and I actually had some "commandos" shoot our target while they waited for the round to end before they could put up their own target! No chance it was a pass through as the target was 200 yds with grouped shots. What nerve! A***$&ES!

CurlyCarl Report post Posted November 17, 2008 Im glad you all have seen the humor in the post over the critisism, coues'n'sheep- yes a rifle exactly like that, but your tatoo is tasteful, there was this one guy at usery with a naked latino woman tatood around his leg like a stripper pole and her naked "assets" spared no detail untouched. Hey Coues "N" Sheep While admiring your rifle (your tat is cool, but your rifle is much more impressive) I saw you have a Limbsaver Barrel De-resonator...does that thing work? I know they are not costly, and probably should just buy one...how do you like it? Redman
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted November 17, 2008 Redman, I have one on my .257 wby as well. It seems to work well. I shot a 2.37" group at 300 yards with it on. I also hit a grapfruit rock two times in a row at 518 last night. Seems to work well for $10 +/-

firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted November 17, 2008 You ever tried to hit a moving bobcat from a knee? Not exactly the best/biggest target.
DesertDweller Report post Posted November 23, 2008 LOL!!! We all have had experiences at the range that make us shake our heads. My 300 Rem Ultra Mag has a break, as well as my daughters 300 Ultra and my son's 300 Wby.... so we are an equal age ear buster family! We usually go together and it takes a hour or two to make sure our big boomers are on the mark. I agree that muzzle brakes punish those on either side of us... we tell them and try to get down on the end of the fireing line. Jack O'Connor was right... Magnums either kick like a mule or deafen you... take your pick! What bothers me is the weekend warrior that drives to the range, sets up, fires 3 or four shots and lowdly proclaimes "GOOD ENOUGH FOR DEER! as he looks at his 6 inch group at 100yds" D.D. cmc Report post Posted November 23, 2008 What bothers me is the weekend warrior that drives to the range, sets up, fires 3 or four shots and lowdly proclaimes "GOOD ENOUGH FOR DEER! as he looks at his 6 inch group at 100yds" D.D. Although I don't believe there are 'range commandos' as I believe to each their own and only care about unsafe range practices but I had a somewhat similar ordeal although mine turned out to be interesting. I was at the range sighting in a rifle and the range is pretty empty due to the humidity and heat of the summer. There are two guys a few benches down with more gear at the range than I own and a few nice looking rifles. I figured they'd fallen into what you guys are calling range commandos. Their shots were pretty sporadic and after they'd shoot they'd hoot and holler. I was curious to what was going on so I put my binos on their target and the bullet holes were all over the place. So a few more shots and again the guys high five and talk about how well of a shot just sent. I again look at the target 100yds out and just shrug my shoulders as if these guys are nuts if they call that good shooting. Two more shots go by and that's it I had to think something else is up. I wander by and ask how's the shooting. They say 'pretty good'. We talk what rifles they are shooting and how they think they finally got their rounds dialed in. I ask what kind of groups they are shooting. The guy holds up a target that blew me away with clover leafs of rounds touching rounds on each target. So in my mind I think they're shooting off bad rounds. While I'm looking at the target I look forward to the target down range and the guy looks at me and says.... oh don't look the groupings on that target we're shooting flies. "What?" I asked. "Where shooting flies that land on the target. "No way.." "Yep". "well I gotta see this" I go over and get setup on my 15x's and he guys say "We got one" I look at the target and see a fly on the upper corner. "Ok get ready and keep an eye on that fly". BOOM! A hole appears exactly where the fly WAS! All I could say was "Nice shot" smile and nod at the guys as they continued to have fun in the sweltering heat. I wonder if you need a tag to shoot flies at the range.... hmmm... So maybe... he was just shooting flies. Never judge the paper holes for how well the shooter and rifle is... cmc
