Another Great hunt!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well this being my first blog I couldn't explain how much fun and exciting this hunt was this year. We seen lots of bucks and I (which wasn't always a good thing) got lots of shots at some wonderful deer. We headed out with 7 tags and we're able to fill 6 of them. On day number 2 I missed a beautiful 3x3 at 280 yards and let me tell you my heart fell into my stomach. On the next day my buddy and I got set up on another nice 3x3 and he missed and I got the second shot and hit him but unfortunately after searching for quite some time could not recover it. On a good note we got our stuff and started hunting again with what sun we had and glassed up a buck my buddy was able to get. He was a unique 3x5. We had to pack him out in the dark which wasn't much fun but it was worth every minute to see my buddys expression on his face when we finally got him out. Then the deer gods must have been with us cause on the next two mornings we made it out with 2 deer on both mornings. My uncle got a BEAUTIFUL 2x2 that scored in the mid to high 90's. It was a old deer which I believe was on the down side but boy was he a dandy. My old man MR.M ended up with a beautiful 3x2. We were able to help a couple friends who lets say are now big time coues hunters and that was probably an even better feeling than killing mine. I got my lil ol 3x3 on an amazing shot at 475 yards and I have to say I thought I was ready for those long shots...I think it was just pure luck I hit him. Of course I made my buddys think I knew what I was doing the whole time. I would like to thank all my friends and family who was out on this hunt. It made for one very special hunt being able to help these first time coues hunters get there bucks. Hope you enjoyed your hunts as much as I enjoyed mine. GO BUCKEYES!!!!!

Just wanted to add to the story...that 2x2 that we took down was actually one that we scouted in the off-season. Just goes to show that you put in the hard work and time it will eventually pay out. We really worked our butts off on this hunt and even though it got tuff at times we still kept our heads high and went out there and got it done. We were all very proud of these deer and it made for a hunt that we will never forget. I also gave myself a little reminder too. As I was shooting my deer I got a little to close to the scope and left myself a nice little shiner and a gash on my forehead that really bleed pretty good. My buddy called my old man to tell him we had some deer down and told him he hoped the deer bleed out before I did  ;)

Scouting does help a lot. We live too far and are just too busy during the year to make it down to scout. Very Very nice bucks. 6 out of 7 is great. We usually come up 1 out of 9 or so. Shows you how your hard work indeed pays off.
