Why did he leave? DId you write hime a check?

i guess he thought it was working- he checked the temp from the vent - said it was 59 degrees and left-

it was covered under home warranty - I turned the unit off for 8 hours thinking it may have been frozen (still) - turned it back on a few moments ago- it is 81 degrees on that side of house-will see what happens- I will call the warranty company this morning if doesn't  start dropping.

came to the conclusion new units needed... ouch

So decided to go with AC Kings - 2 brothers own the company (younger gents) - they installed it on Friday and it has been fantastic.

I highly recommend them - they offer a very competitive price, cleaned up as they were not here.  The price they quoted was the price we paid. - I am no AC expert, but the install looks very well done.

thanks for everyone's help - this was an unplanned event - but glad we got them replaced!

For the one unit that broke - the coil had a leak, home warranty is a joke- glad we decided to replace- below is the email we got - I cashed out. The only reason I kept the stupid home warranty was the age of the AC systems.  Needless to say not renewing

The estimated charges that are not covered by your FNHW contract, for $2665.00, have been provided by the Service Provider and are broken down as follows:

Code upgrades over $250.00 aggregate:

  • Secondary drain pan $235.00
  • Electrical Disconnect w/Breaker $185.00

Modifications/access not covered per Limits of Liability #7

  • PVC drain line #175.00
  • Supply plenum/duct mods $1575.00
  • Copper line $495.00

Alternatively, per Limits of Liability #11 in your contract, reserves the right to provide cash in lieu of repair or replacement of a covered system or appliance in the amount of FNHW’s actual cost to repair or replace such a system or appliance. The amount provided as cash in lieu is generally less than retail. is not responsible for work performed once you accept cash in lieu of service."

Should you elect this option,  will process a payment to you of $1571.83.

And lie and try to up sale you..... I had one try to strong arm me and say he wasn't going to do the warranty work on my unit unless I paid him cash for a cleaning of the coils when he came back to put the compressor in.
