Looking for a good taxidermist

Recommended Posts

mark at wildlife creations does a great job. He has already done one of my coues and I just droped off another. He specializes in full mounts but will do anything. He has a showroom with many mounts to see.

I also suggest Mark Plunkett at Wildlife Creations. That's where I just took my coues. He also did a great job on my wife's bull elk. Duwane Adams has Mark in his book on page 118. He is located in Phoenix at 51st ave and Thunderbird. He charges $525 for a coues.

I'll second that, Pat Newman in san manuel is the best i've seen, coues deer are his specialty, he comes up to phx all the time to pick up, i would'nt mount a coues without looking at his work..........BH

Weller's Wildlife Studio in Tucson is also excellent. And they just signed on to be a sponsor on this website. So please, give that some consideration when looking for a taxidermist. I have known the owners of Weller's for many years and they really do some nice work. And they have excellent turnaround time, avg is 6 months.

Check out their website: Weller's Wildlife Studio

Here are some photos of Coues deer they have mounted:

Those are beautiful mounts. I recognize that bottom buck as Dan Kings. Does anyone know why his buck was not recognized as the nontypical world record? Maybe this should be a different post.

There was a post on one of the discussion threads here within the last month that had several pictures of Patrick's work. They were VERY nice....

I'll try to find the post and attach a link.

Chase, I would second or third Pat Newman, although there are lots or good coues taxis. around. You can see a couple of his mounts on azdeer.org (AZ Deer Association Website) Congrats on a great deer.

I have no doubt that all these guys are excellent. Taxidermy has come a long way in the past few decades. My guy is Clay Goldman of Mogollon Taxidermy in Payson.

My vote in the Tucson area is for Wellers, they did an outstandind job on my last coues and like Amanda said, the turn around is impressive.

I am glad they decided to join us here at CWT, I was talking to them about the site when I was there in Nov. dropping a cape off for them.
