Huntn coues

My daughters first elk.

Recommended Posts

Well It all started out in the darkness of the first morning of My 10 yr olds cow hunt. We set up a pop up

on a waterhole and started the waiting game after about 45 mins the sun finally started to appear which

was welcomed by Ciarra and her sister Courtney who joined us for the hunt. About 8 am we had a coyote

come in from our backside but elected to pass on em. After that the excitement turned to I'm hungry which

was music to my ears ;) We left at 9:30 and was back in the blind by 11:00.

After a few hours of seeing nothing but birds and squirells that yote came back in at 3:30 got a drink and was

leaving when Ciarra said I got em in the scope so I used my cow call to make the best varmit squeal that I could

and he stopped in his tracks at 100 yds facing us and that's when she put the hammer on him. We got out and took

pics then got back into the blind. 15 mins later we had a bobcat come in and to make a long story short I was second guessing my self if the season was open  To late after 10 mins he walked off. :(

So at about 4:30 we packed up and walked back out to the truck dropped off the gear and Courtney stayed with

the truck as well and Ciarra and I started walking back in to get the coyote when I saw dadgum cows and a bull

in the waterhole wa just left 10 minutes earlier :o I got her into 150 yards and the rest was text book...perfect

1 shot double lung hit!!

Not to bad of a day for her first two critters. ;)

Thanks to Justin for that awesome spot and for the pack out and Tanner for his help as well ;)

Congratulations Ciarra on your cow elk and the bonus yote. All that practice paid off!!

I still can't believe you can shoot that 30-06 of your dads so well without the recoil bothering you at all not bad for a 10 year old girl. Hope your deer hunt works out just as well.

Congatulations to you to Troy keep up the good work with the girls. ;)
