Bartlett Flathead Fishing From the Bank

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows anything about bank fishing for flatheads at Bartlett Lake and where would be a good area to start out. Me and my buddy are planning an overnight trip there so any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you are planning on the weekend, my advice is stay the heck away. It is an absolute freaking madhouse.  During the week would be fine but weekends suck. Unless you like that party crowd thing..  Even with a boat, you can't escape.  A month ago, we went up to shiprock and there were 5 groups up there as well. They have been whacking em though.

Hey, just want you people to know this before go to Bartlett Lake

Mosquitoes love stagnant water to deposit their eggs in. These are found in ponds, lakes, marshes, and swamps. Other types of wetlands They can, however, thrive in a variety of environments and can effectively reproduce even while not in their normal home. Many mosquito species use water containers as egg-laying locations.
Use a mosquito repellent such as this to keep yourself safe.
Mosquito larvae can be found in a variety of environments. Some larvae can be found in temporary bodies of water such as floodwater, ditches, and forest puddles. Anopheles, Culex, Culiseta, Coquillettidia, and Uranotaenia breed in permanent bodies of water and may live in dirty, freshwater, acidic, and brackish water swamps. Other mosquito larvae may be present in container water sources such as leaf puddles and stagnant water within tiny pools.
Mosquito larvae may grow to be as large as 5 mm and are easily visible in water. Larger larvae are found nearer the water's surface. Mosquito larvae are incredibly sensitive and will dive for cover if they detect a disturbance.

Hope this is helpful

Oh that's smart, let's suggest spraying pesticides which are highly toxic to aquatic animals all around a lake... Sheesh.

And those aren't repellents, they are straight up pesticides.

As far up the flats as you can get

I heard they blocked off the flats- god I hope that isn't true.
