Freaking awesome burgers, and for anyone in the know, you can get your ‘fry sauce’ fix there! 😉 Ate there 2 weeks ago. It was just OK. But for Kanab, it is top notch.

My updated review would be "just OK". Big Al's (Junction) was VERY good back in the day. In September of this year though, I was on a little Southern Utah hiking road trip and of course had to stop in. I was definitely struck with the feeling that it's shine had worn off. Seems like sometimes as/if places change hands or if they just evolve over time, that places that used to be great start to slide towards mediocrity.....
Redman Report post Posted December 16 if you are in 33 around San Manuel - Mel's is tough to beat. Deluxe cheeseburger and fries!

If I'm around San Manuel, I'm heading to Mammoth to hit-up La Casita for some enchiladas and a cheese crisp!! LOL (I'll be in the neighborhood for a section of the AZ Trail in a few weeks. Think I might check-out Mel's!)

Redman Report post Posted December 17 Hard to beat La Casita anywhere.... many locals (and former locals) say the same about Mels. Call in advance get it to go, its the one burger that is just as good cold.
brndog1 Report post Posted December 17 If you're passing through Hatch NM as we did to visit family in Albuquerque plan a stop at Sparky's for their green chile cheeseburger. We made sure our times going and coming back always put us there around lunch time.

Lucafu1 Report post Posted December 17 If I am near Mammoth I am stopping at Mi Pueblito. I like it better than La Casita. Then I pick up some beef jerky at the carneceria.

I’ll have to try Mi Pueblito next time! 1/2 the reason I go to La Casita is for the personal nostalgia. Growing up in Kearny a LONG time ago, that was one of the few places my parents would drive to for the rare family dinner out. 😉
