When I got my first bow my uncle offered me the opportunity to sit his treestand. About 20 minutes after I got into the treestand a buck walked right up to the tree I was in. It was a 7 yd shot. TREESTANDMAN Report post Posted January 3, 2005 Salt licks work well but it may take some time to get it established. You should start one now and the you can set up a treestand over it for next year. Location is the most important thing when deciding on where to place salt. Lookin4amonster Report post Posted January 3, 2005 In a hunt I had back in 2000, i was spotting and stalking. My dad and i spotted a nice buck on the hill above us. The buck snuck over the top on us so we decided to go up after him. About 20 yds before reaching the top we heard branches cracking about 50 yards ahead. To our luck a herd of javelina's had spooked the buck right over the hill back at us. He picked his head up and spotted my dad and i at exactly 12 yards. I consider that pretty easy.
