Been hunting there for decades, I'm not seeing it.

You are one of the few.  I know a few guys that guide up there and are really successful at it.  They say the deer numbers are significantly lower than 5 years ago.

It's no fun when on an archery hunt, you scout hard.  The season opens and each spot you go to, a non hunter tells you we have a client in this spot.  And the same thing happens all day...  Then you say screw it and just hunt, and ignore the rudeness.  Only to find that night your camp has been messed with, or your truck now has multiple flat tires.    Some guides and multiple helpers act has if they own the entire unit because they have a client.

Now were talking?  Elaborate please.  Thats bs. Im sure u have some details.  Unit, elk?, details

Says the game unit manager - who recommended and GOT PASSSED a tag reduction -

doesn’t mean you can’t find deer , doesn’t mean there aren’t great bucks - but yes They are at lower numbers then what they have been .

I saw 40 -60 deer a day on that hunt this past December.  I don't think the buck quality was what I was hoping. I saw at least 20 groups of does and looked over the herd bucks good.  I saw a group of 17 does that did not have a buck with them. Saw one other group(of people) the whole time. Fantastic hunt.

What was your time frame on your hunt if you don't mind me asking.

I agree, I don't think the unit spits out 185/200 inch bucks like it used to.

Makes sense now so I understand.

I didn’t know it was well known for kicking out 185-200. How many 200” have been killed there? I remember the kid on the youth hunt like 15 years ago.

Same thing I witnessed during the Oct hunt, albeit it the bucks were together.

Well Tomgobbler has lived here his whole life and myself and other that have lived her over 40 years all see the same thing. Its a good hunt but #s are down. In the 3 years they have had the hunt (3c December) the biggest buck that has been killed is 180" class buck.

It sure is better than pre-fire but not nearly as good as it has been.

I think is well known for 170" type bucks  with a few 180s and bigger thrown in.  I agree not very many over 185" killed

I was trying to count up how many 200s have been killed and of course I don't know all of them but I have a pretty good handle on them.

I think there have been around 8 or 9 in the last 15 years with half of those coming from 3a and only 1 that I know of on a archery hunt and none on the December hunts.

There are a few others that could be close but I never heard of any scores, official or not on some of them.
