Happy belated birthday C.W..com

Recommended Posts

Happy birthday coueswhitetail.com!! You are developing nicely!

A year ago, through the Dec season, I seem to remember logging on every day and being disapointed that more people were not getting involved and sharing their experiences on-line. Some days there were no posts at all.

This past whitetail season the discussion forum has been fabulous. Where else can you find mega info - pictures, stories, tips, facts, humor, compassion and other information about deer hunters and their favorite sport??

Here in Flagstaff there is a sporting goods store (Ruff's) that used to weigh animals that hunters would bring in, they would take pictures, give you one and put another in a photo album that stayed at the store for every interested person to look at. Then I discovered Sportway Liquer in Williams that did the same thing except their album is 3 foot wooden pages mounted with hinges on the wall, and they do a better job of documenting the photos with information like dates, units, etc.

To compare the deer lore at these stores to C.W..com would be like comparing a covered wagon to a rocket ship!

We have so much more here. We are not just seeing the sucessful hunters in one community, this site covers the entire Coues deer region; Arizona, New Mexico and Mexico. Wow! We get to see monster bucks, like Bowsniper's recent archery kill, big bucks, average and small bucks. And we get to read all of the stories sucessful or not. And we get bear stories and lion stories and mule deer stories.

I think the best part of it all are the people that share the stories. We get to hear from lifetimes of experience from people like Gains, AZHunter, Josh Epperson, Scott Adams, and so many others. I love the way Scott Adams puts a story together complete with pics from his high power optics. I took pics of a big bear last week through my spotting scope - would never have happened if I hadn't been educated by reading this forum.

Then there are the personalities like Ernesto, Chris Darnell, Lark and others. What color! You guys add to the richness of my life.

This site also has power. Sportsman and women can be rallied to contact our legislators in times of need. And good ethics are shared here - this may be the only place some people get exposed to this stuff. This power will grow with the site's success as time goes on.

Thank you Amanda for the conception of this site and the unimaginable hours you must put into it. Thank you also for letting us "air out" hot topics as they arise with minimal censorship. Thanks also to all members and guests for keeping the posts civil and clean.

The stuff we get here is more than just deer lore. It's culture. And with all the crap that the world has to offer these days, this is a great place to visit and share and learn.

Thanks again Amanda. You are appreciated by us all.

Mike

I'm still the new guy around here (and maybe a PITA to some of you :D ) but love this site! I got so tired of hearing about how small the coues deer are, I always got a "Why did you settle for such a small buck..." But those guys back East have nothing on these tricky little guys :P Thanks to all of you!

Wow Mike what a post! I think we all have a lot to offer each other and this forum that Amanda has put together is second to none. I met Craig Holmes (300 wsm) through this site and we are now the best of friends and hunting buddies. Like Mike I just can't say enough good about this site. Thanks Amanda, for bringing us all together.

Thanks everyone. And thanks for letting me know how much you like the site. I am really glad the site has grown so much and that it is useful to people. For those of you that are new to the site, don't forget that this forum is just part of a larger site. The main CW.com webpage has links to the main photogalleries and lots of info on biology and hunting tactics and much more. CouesWhitetail.com main page

This site has definitely helped me meet some great people! I have been able to stay over at Ernesto's house when I happened to be passing through Yuma, been in the field with RedRabbit huntin elk, and I have met several of you all at various places all over the state just because you saw the sticker on the back of my Jeep. Heck I even bumped into some CW.com regulars at a New Year's eve party the other night!! And I have gotten to meet lots of you guys by scoring your deer and other trophies - way too many to list here. In fact, tomorrow I head to Douglas to score some deer for a hunt club down there because one of it's members knew me through this site and I had scored some of his other deer. So if anyone is down in Douglas Tues or Wed this week, send me an email and maybe we can meet up.

Thanks to all you guys who share your pictures, hunt stories and tactics. Without the new content you guys send me, this site wouldn't have grown as much or be nearly as useful or interesting! And many thanks to those who have sent in donations, paid for advertising, or bought things through this site. That money helps maintain and improve this site.

:(

Hey Mike,

I get your deeeeeeeep stuff, man. Always have. I just never told you so. You and I don't always agree, but I can associate with your mind that has waaaaaay to much time on it's hands, just like mine. At least we are in the same neighborhood, which is much more than I can say about me and the rest of this planet these days. Also, you and I share a (former for you) vice, which I noticed you mentioned on a previous post.

But, unfortunately, deeeeeeeeeep posts tend to go nowhere on this forum. That's the problem I have with it. I happen to believe that we were all were given a brain to think and reason with. I like to get deeeeep into things, but that scares the sheet out of most, same as my intensity. I think you know what I mean, Mike.

Anyway, Amanda has done a first-rate job with this site that has a ton of great info about these magnificent deer. Much of this info can't be found anywhere else. I have learned a great deal here. If most website publishers put as much effort into theirs as Amanda has done here, the web would be a MUCH greater place. I like the other aspects of this site, not just this forum. The constantly updated pics are just fantastic. I have learned a great deal here.

Anyway, some more deeeeeep stuff. Take care everyone.

PS- Mike, my personality is obviously a lot more colorful than Lark's!

Rembrandt

You Definitely wrote a very "HEADY" post to start this thread.

So much of what you said was why I have stayed with the site. I have to say, the caliber of members is far and above what other hunting sites I used to frequent have. sure every site has the few Stellar stand outs, but this site does not have the low class killjoys that other sites have. I forget who it was, but someone posted a while back about how he never had worries for his children to look at anything on this site. I have read a fair amount on other hunting sites I would not want my children reading.

Special Thanks to Amanda, and a Big cheer to everyone who continues to keep CWD the best site of it's kind. :D

Thank you Amanda for your hard work and a great site, and all you forum members for your helpful comments.

I'd like to take it a step further by encouraging anyone who hasn't yet done so to make a donation to this web site. Good things don't come for free, and this website and forum is a very good thing! If you can, figure out how much this forum has been worth to you, and go the main site at http://www.coueswhitetail.com/ and click on "Make a Donation". Just skip that 12 pack this weekend, and send a donation instead.

Rembrandt,

That was a great post, and it was followed by several others that have said about everything there is to say, but I will say that the information and tips that you guys and Amanda have given on this site has been invaluable, hopefully we can all learn from each other, and yes I know there are no deer in 23, there are also no coues in 21 I don't care what pictures Josh has been posting.

CHD,

I am glad you are getting over what you had, I was sick and missed a week of work before my hunt, and probably should have missed another week, but I talked myself into going hunting and I paid for it. I think it sucks to be sick when you can be hunting, and if your to sick to hunt, you probably were close to death.

Amanda,

Keep up the great work on this site, thank goodness for these guys and there stories and pictures, as for me maybe this year I'll get my first coues.
