Camp Wood - Juniper Mesa

Recommended Posts

A buddy of mine is looking for some e-scouting ideas about the worthiness of these two areas. Like many of us he has limited resources to be taking off work and burning fuel.

anyone able to help? Thanks and good luck to all this fall!

Camp wood will be humming with hunters--Juniper Mesa--not so much. Both hold deer but not near as many as a few years ago--i have seen some stud bucks on the mesa though.

The whole key to 17A is getting away from the roads, campwood will be crawling with road hunters. the eastern side of the unit on the public land will be less crowded, as well as the northern side of the unit. I will be up there too, for deer and cow elk.

Terry I agree there used to be some really good deer in there, I hope to find one.

Good luck

Not sure the pressure during the deer hunt, but just got back from there and the elk hunters were moderate in that area. Saw most of the deer in the southern part of the unit.

I haven't hunted the Camp Wood area for some time. I used to hunt around Sheridan mountain to the Southwest. Found plenty of deer.

I hiked all over Juniper mesa for my archery cow tag. Saw about six deer in 3 days, 2 bucks. Neither anything to get excited about. I hunted camp wood/ seven up ranch a bunch last year and saw 26 deer in three days. Unbeleivably about 2/3 of them were bucks. Saw a gigantic muley on the Baca Float. The bucks seemed to get bigger the closer to 18b I got. Check around Antelope tank
