andyyy Report post Posted March 13, 2022 Haven't fished anything besides the canal since moving here, been wanting to move on to the lakes. Looks like there's yellow and white bass in the lakes, and I'm thinking to target the spring spawn. Question is- for those who have been there, is a float tube a bad idea? Lots of high speed traffic? I mostly just stick to the edges of lakes I fish with it, try not to get into people's way. Any suggestions on where to launch? Looking at the map, I think the back coves look promising, maybe down "Castle Creek Drive"? Doesn't look like a "launch area" but maybe I could find a spot to hike down? Thanks in advance, hope this isn't considered E scouting just hoping to learn a bit more of what I'm getting into so I can be prepared!
trphyhntr Report post Posted March 13, 2022 Sounds like a death wish but I haven’t been out there much. I saw a video a guy was fishing from the docks there catching stripers
andyyy Report post Posted March 13, 2022 Lol, this is not encouraging feedback but I think I'll still might give it a shot if the wind isn't bad. If you never see me post again, you'll know why 😱
yotebuster Report post Posted March 13, 2022 I think you can drive in at the back end of the Agua fria end and get to the water there. Should be way less traffic back there too.
Roosevelt Mark Report post Posted March 13, 2022 Lake unpleasant is very busy, I'm sure with some exploring you can find a nice bank with some good shore line. Check out Bartlett as well if you live on that side of town. Sag no Bueno, canyon lake in the Boulder area is no motors. Great place for that and the land of giant bass. Go now.

Thanks for the heads up!! I'm not married to the idea of Lake Pleasant. It's just the closest I think. I live in midtown PHX Was planning to go calling next weekend (almost the end of bobcat season) but might blow it off to catch the spawn
NOTAGS Report post Posted March 13, 2022 You go to pleasant, you’ll have to disinfect your float tube...LOL. What Yotebuster said. I havent been up to the upper end in years, if you can avoid all the off-roaders going in, that place would be excellent for the tube.
