I would like to and call a badger in this coming weekend, but I have never seen one while I was out hunting. I have heard there is a good population west of Wickenburg but I haven't had the chance to get over there yet. I have read to look for large dirt mounds, but again I haven't seen anything like this before. Does anybody know any good areas to start checking? David

Try the praire dog towns around Seligman. I saw several of them on my last antelope hunt up there.

I had a 20 yard (ranged) shot at one with my bow last January but decided not to take it. It was right in the entrence of his burrow and I thought he would run down into it after the shot. I still question myself whither I should have shot or not. I hope I get another chance. I might just have to go place a stand right over the hole and wait him out. :) They sure are unique animals and would love a rug someday.

Prarie dog towns are the best place to look. They are tough little buggers tho and stinky.

you don't see em very often because, well they like, live underground most o' the time. i called one badger in many years ago in u1. thought it was a bobcat the wasy it came slitherin' in. shot it with a .22 pistol. my uncle called one in and shot it, also. also many years ago. i saw one awhile back, but just let it waddle off. neat critter. greasy suckers to skin. best to skin it, roll it up and freeze it. let the taxidermist flesh it. the hide seems to grow fat for about a week. every once in awhile a guy will glass one up while glassing for goats and such.
